Bought as a gift for my brother, retired Navy Chief..he loved it.

I ordered this as a planned Christmas gift for my son, who's coming up on 10 years in the Navy this winter; it seems the perfect gift for a young man who's always been fascinated by mechanical things as well as electronics and has as much appreciation for the glitz of Tokyo and Seoul and Singapore as for antiques and museums. Of course, I had to hope that the images and description of the item were accurate as to the product; some products look better in the photos than in your hands. Thankfully, this is not one of those products; it's one of those where the pictures literally cannot portray the item as beautifully as it presents itself in person. They can't capture the rich luster of the wooden case or the gleam of the brass properly, and no photo can convey the solid weight of this instrument, or how utterly smoothly the hinges operate. I can't wait to see his reaction when he opens this beauty!
