Good set, hard to assemble, easy to fix
First off, the set is fully compatible with lego, as well as many other brands. Second, the track is incredibly difficult to put together. The track pieces do NOT want to go together, and you end up having to use other bricks to "tape" them together so that the track is smooth enough for the cars to drive. Third, the posts on the cars is a tad too thick for the joining areas, causing the cars to get stuck every 3 inches. The lap counter is also a bit stiff for the cars, but a little lubrication and use frees them up well enough. Now, the posts on the cars are an easy fix: Grab a set of pliers (needle nosed in my case) and smash the little nip on the car so that it is thinner. Make sure that you squeeze the pin from side to side, not front to back.To help with the track, the brushes on the cars need to be flared a bit. If they aren't spread out, the car usually loses connection along the track and dies. That all aside, the set itself comes with a battery box and USB cable to power the set, and the track itself can be powered from a 5v 1A USB micro B. The control box is also removeable, but be careful doing so, as it has 3 tiny pins on the underside that can be easily bent or broken if not aligned right.Once the track has been wrestled into compliance, the included base plates can be added to the track to give areas for decoration and building, and the track comes with guardrails, trees, and a few other decorative options that you can use to set up a race venue. If you have multiple sets, you can link them together to form a rather impressive track through a lego city, or anything else you wish to build.Overall, I cannot recommend this set for children, as they are likely to break the pins on the track trying to force it together, but I CAN recommend it for anyone over 10, or for anyone who knows how to assemble a slot car track. It's a great addition to your building brick collection, so long as you dont mind a little hassle putting it together.

Meh not worth it
The toy is pretty cool in theory I like the idea of being able to remote control the little cars as they run around the racetrack unfortunately, it came with some floss, the assembly itself, putting the item together, but fairly simple and easy to follow although I feel the construction instructions could have been more clearer than just pictures. I like the option that you can either insert batteries into controller or plug it directly into a power source pretty convenient as batteries go very quickly around here . Unfortunately, when controlling the vehicles, I don’t think they’ve made around the track even once, they would flip over to get derailed immediately the numbers for lapsed automatically just a very useless product at the end of the day visually very nice very well put together, unfortunately not very functional.

Piece of Junk
I opened up the package and found that it was missing one piece of curved track. I contacted the company (email to China) and a week or two later they replied, asking for the Amazon order number. Sent that off, waited another week, after which they said "this item is not in stock so we can't help you."So I put what I had together, making a smaller loop of track and gave it a try. The cars are extremely small and lightweight, so it doesn't take much to make them fly off the track. There is a lap counter on one piece of straight track, and the force required to trip the counter will stop the car unless you're going at top speed. I had my grandkids test it out and they got frustrated pretty quickly. I had to remind them to handle the cars carefully, it would be pretty easy to crush one.Combining slot cars and Lego-type blocks is a great idea, but I'd recommend passing on this set, or anything else from this company. This set is too finicky for small kids, and too lame for older ones.

Fun..
I am of that gen that remembers the dominance of 1/64 scale and larger electric slot car sets. So this caught my eye right away. I love the smaller scale! the set fit on the coffee table with room to spare when set up in a 'L' layout. The power track has a USB Micro-B socket and a 4 AA Cell battery box, and as long as the wall power adaptor has the correct voltage can be used instead of the battery box. The tracks are initially pretty tight to assemble on squares with Lego'esque nubs. The cars have great detail, if You follow HO or 1:87 scale model offerings these days, these would not look bad up against some of those offerings..It does include some building bricks and accessories to build up the race scene. Not being a Lego enthusiast, I have no blocks to see if they work; however as the Lego patent is up and other factors, they should work with the base squares. One deign oversight [IMO] is no recesses in the track base squares and matching dovetails on the scenery bases, allowing the blank scenery bases to lock to the track base squares. The track counter "works" but is more a hindrance, stopping the inner loop car at every encounter. The counter also does not include a '0'.. crazy.. Once I removed the counters [simple 2 screw removal under the track] it was evident the mechanizm isn't designed for such small scale cars. The indents on the discs are to deep to break free of the lock levers. I used the flat side of a fork to 'clean' the slots, at some points around the loop sticking would occur. While the set is fun, I remember getting much more track in a tyco/scalextric set for about the same price. It also doesn't look to be marketed as a collectable race set as in the 'olden days", buying more cars, more track and accessories was a 3rd of the fun! So for some that remember those days.. this could be a disappointment considering the price, But it could be great if your looking to see if a kid might want to move up to those better brands of slot cars.. I do plan on some arduino projects for the little set! Great fun either way..
