SparkFun Optical Tracking Odometry Sensor - PAA5160E1 (Qwiic) - Optical Tracking Sensor - Included 6-Axis IMU - 1 in x 1 Dimensions

I bought two of these and they have very different performance between the two. Even after calibration I see large amounts of drift. I like the concept and really want it to work but there are many aspects of the product that seem like they could be improved. Perhaps more detailed example code with regard to strategies to make the best use of the products strengths. It's very sensitive to how far it is mounted from the sensing surface but there isn't really any way to tell if you need it to be lower or higher except to do many runs.

The media could not be loaded. I tried it out by hooking it up to a Pico-W using the MicroPython library that SparkFun has provided. It operates pretty much like a mouse, plus it also tells you angular position. I plan to put it on my DIY robot so that it will be able to keep track of where it is.
