Microsoft FTW!: function, sound quality, ease, size, possibilities and nice phonetics: what's in a name!
This is a really interesting bit of kit! It's so tiny and light you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a Christmas cracker gift... so I got the case with it luckily so I wouldn't lose it! I bought an extra 8GB miniSD card for extra storage so I have 16GB which is a LOT when it comes to mp3 files... SOUND QUALITY is QUALITY! I have an album on here I've been listening to since I was 14 on vinyl and mp3 various devices, and I heard percussion with this kubik that I never knew existed, sound is sharp, stereo, and so rounded, it's amazing! Not played anything quite at full volume yet, and it's loud enough for me with the headfones provided... The navigation is pretty bizarre, not like an average mp3 player but like your PC, folder directories etc which is sort of familiar and good but also seems a bit excessive (but then I only want this for music, while it is kitted out with capabilities for auto scrolling ebooks etc which is pretty cool) The navigation is taking me a little getting used to, I'm starting to realise that with certain combinations the top left vol button is basically like a right click on a mouse and it's starting to come together... there is a function to pick up listening where you left off but you have to read the manual for that one... I am really happy with this, the price was a bit more than I wanted to pay for *only* 8GB of storage, but it seems like a well built, nice wee computer rather than a basic mp3, so I am sure it's multi capabilities will be of interest in the future beyond the music... I think it was good value for money, it's aesthetically cute, and fits in the palm of your hand easily, hardly there weightwise... You can drag and drop files in like any directory on your computer or use windows media player to create playlists and convert tracks to mp3 before uploading. SO easy to use, no bloatware slugging your computer along! Recommended for AWESOME sound quality, capabilities and music management (drag and drop or windows media player, so simple!!!) I also like the name, as a useless aside! It reminds me of KUBRIK obviously but also Philip K Dick's "UBIK", which is nice. Will have to read it again just incase there's an connection... will let you know!

Great little player!
Have only awarded four stars as the earphones supplied are rubbish! (Sound is lifeless, dull, & muffled!!) Please KUBIK, for a few more pounds supply decent phones! You are spoiling a good product!! This is the first mp3 player I have bought and used so did not want to spend vast amounts on a <FRUITY.> product. I bought this for my partner, who is well into her music, as a birthday present. I cannot fault this item at all, so easy to use and downloading from Windows Media Player is a doddle for someone like me with no experience. I bought a set of SONY earphones to replace the awful ones supplied by KUBIC and the sound quality and volume are now tremendous. I have also bought a 8GB microSD card to enlarge the capacity to 16GB and for the price I think this is a bargain. I would have preferred the Black/Orange version(out of stock)as the Pink/White one looks a bit cheap to me, but after buying pink earphones to go with it, my partner is well pleased(girly thing!!) It is very lightweight and the plastic quality is probably not up there with the leading brand, so I also have now purchased a leather case for it and suspect it will now endure any mistreatment! The player also includes a radio and video player which are an added bonus. All in all I think you cannot go wrong with this item considering its low price and ease of use.

Good mp3, forget video
I bought this to replace my Sansa Fuze that decided to die after 5 years as I have reasons for wanting a separate mp3/video player to my smartphone. I read the reviews, weighed the pros and cons and opted for this. Yes, I agree it is very plasticky - especially after the Fuze. I don't think it would survive 5 minutes with me without the case as it is so flimsy. The pink is a bit rubbish - I'd have gone with the orange for both black and white, but I'm not the designer! The controls are not logical as others have stated. At all. You definitely need to read the book. But having said that I was impressed with how easily mp3s can be loaded on the main memory and microSD card, the quality of the sound and the earphones are comfortable and good. It is also excellent for use in the car. The Fuze was a little on the quiet side and I had to have both player and car radio on max, but with this I have a lot of leeway. So mp3 - excellent. Case - excellent. Video - forget it. If I had known before I clicked what I know now, I probably wouldn't have bothered and saved myself hours' worth of frustration. It says AVI in the description, what it doesn't say is AVI 160 x 128 pixels, 15 fps, which is a completely different matter. I went to the website as instructed to download the converter and it was "closed temporarily". I tried various other converters, used the specifications given, I even looked up the properties of the videos pre-loaded and replicated them (128 kbps), but still couldn't get any video files to play. A week later, the site is still "closed temporarily". I am sure there are those that can get it to work but after a couple of days and several hours and still no success, sorry, to me that is an unusable feature. It was quicker and easier to load the videos on my smartphone - and it has a bigger screen! - and use the Kubik as an mp3 player only which isn't a problem. As an mp3 it is well worth it, but if contemplating this for video I would check if the kubik-digital site is up and running before purchasing, and save yourself a lot of time in trying to convert files. Assuming their converter actually works...
