Second Times a Home Run
After reading the first book in this series, and walking away disappointed, I decided to give it one more shot and read the second book. What a difference! The banter and comedy is back and I enjoyed every minute reading this book. Shawn and Gus have to solve a case which centers on the death of a person during a magic act. This book really made me feel like I was reading a tv episode. The plot builds, the funny quips between characters are there, and unlike the first book, this one is written with no central point of view so the reader is able to focus on everyone's viewpoints. I could really see this book as an episode aired on tv. And the author ties up the mystery nicely at the end. I was very happy I gave this series another chance.

Reads just like the show!
I got a couple psych books for my trip to Maui. I've seen every tv episode literally a hundred times or more. I thought how fun to have more episodes since anyone that reads knows that by the end you feel like you were there. Excellent purchase! I will be getting every one of them.

Pretty funny
A very easy read, went quick. If you like the show you will like the book. The writer tried to capture all the glibness of the show and he did a fair job. Of course it's not quite as fast paced as the show or nearly as much fun as watching the facial contortions of Roday. The ending left me flat, story was good but the end was a let down in my opinion. Happy reading, still better to plant your face in a book than stare mindlessly at a TV some nights.

Hilarious!
I could just hear their voices in my head! The characters were very true to the show. The book was written in 3rd person objective POV and it was hilarious seeing Lassie's thoughts and his opinions on Shawn and Gus. The book still captures Shawn's essence in the way he talks, like calling Gus a name he is not and messing up P'toh P'kah's (I think?) name. I really liked it, it was intriguing and it was just like the show.

Psych- Mind Over Magic. Average book for an awesome tv show
I was quite disappointed to discover this book wasn't as good as I had hoped, which was unexpected as the characters were spot on in the book as they are in the show. What got my goat were two things. Firstly, there was the chapter where they obtained video surveillance of the martian performing from a certain magician, and the one where Shawn tells us whodunit. In both cases, I was left thinking "where the heck did that come from?". Perhaps I need to reread the book, but novels which lurch suddenly to the right with no rhyme or reason leave me cold.Still, there are plenty of humourous parts to give the occassional chuckle. Look out for where gus finds out he has a parking fine :)Hears hoping the next book will be a zinger and the next tv show will be back on soon!

Great but took a while to arrive
Took way too long for this book to get to me, but I love Psych the tv show and movie/musical. Still reading this book (it wasn’t the only one I ordered), but Mind over Magic is good so far.

So Much Fun!
Fans of Psych will enjoy the magic Mind Over Magic by William Rabkin creates between the characters.Shawn and Gus are on another case involving a supposed Martian magician P'tol P'kah and murder. Told mainly from Gus's point of view, the novel keeps the laughs coming. Like the TV show Psych, there are so many witty and funny lines. Rabkin has a spot-on grasp of these characters. The novel is fast-paced, funny, and at times a tad absurd. The mystery kept me guessing until the very end.If you can't wait for the next season of Psych, then you might want to give William Rabkin's Mind Over Magic a try.
