Excellent gift for mechanical mind

My hubby was excited to start doing the Maccano motor bike. It took him a week to do it but it was very frustrating to follow the instructions. They were very contradicting. U would do as instructed on one page on the next it would tell u the opposite, but with a little patience he did it. bikr

Nice build decent size. Little bit fiddly build time around 4-5 hours. 1 bit was missing but not a part that affected the build

I sent it as a present for my grandson. There were parts missing so he could not make it.

Purchased for my brother for Christmas as he likes to keep occupied. Considering he has hands like shovels he got this built rather quickly and it's now a fully built model for his cabinet. Money well spent

Bought as a gift which he loved however it was said that the fairings were extremely fiddly.

Seriously disappointed with Meccano. Bought this as a Christmas present for my son… who on Christmas Day came to me in tears as he was unable to build it due to missing pieces. It’s now past the date where I can return it to Amazon (I guess getting it early and wrapping it was an error on my part)… so I now have to hope that Meccano customer services can send out the missing parts… and from what I’ve read in other reviews, that may not be forthcoming. This is actually the third Meccano set I have bought recently for my son, only to find they are not up to standard with regards to quality of components (I don’t recall there being any plastic parts in the Meccano sets I had when I was a kid) or their packaging assurances (I’ve never had missing components with Lego sets for example). It’s such a shame as my son really enjoys the use of actual tools for assembly but when parts are missing coupled with sometimes difficult to interpret instructions, it’s just frustrating and no fun at all. Right now, I can’t say I’d recommend Meccano… and this is likely to be the last set I will be buying * REVIEW EDIT * So after contacting Meccano via their website, they did get back to me and eventually rectified the situation. Much to my surprise, their customer service was actually quite excellent despite what I'd read, so awarding additional stars in that regard.
