It's just diatomaceous earth
After a year of application on the bottom of my plant pots, there're almost no woodlice near them. Just don't go too zealous with this stuff as its active ingredient is diatomaceous earth, which is an indiscriminate insecticide, so will hurt benefital inserts too like ants/bees/ladybug etc. Do note that this only works when it's dry, as diatomaceous earth will not damage an insect's exoskeleton once wetted, so forget about using this on outdoor area that's not sheltered. I feel the price is too high for what is essentially 250g of diatomaceous earth in a bottle. You can get a kilo of this stuff and a bottle of soft drink to store it (after drinking, cleaning & drying!) for the same price.

Fast acting
Iv had a woodlice issue for a few months now after moving in to a house that's been empty for almost two years. Iv tried various products but this one from ready steady defend is by far the best Iv tried. The woodlice powder comes in a 250g plastic bottle that has a shake out top making it easy to apply to the area where it's needed. Iv used it mostly under the kitchen cabinets behind the plinths and iv noticed a bit difference in the amount of woodlice I got around the house each morning Iv found dead woodlice on the floor but it's not completely stopped them so far only time will tell. This woodlice powder is definitely fast acting and I think it's good value. My only gripe is that is comes in a big bottle that only half full of powder in there they should either fill the bottle or just use a smaller bottle. Recommended product.

At last this looks like a woodlice control powder that is described as non-toxic and easy to apply
We do seem to have a lot of woodlice in and around our property, obviously mainly in the winter months when there's more rainfall and damper conditions. In fact, as I write this review I don't think I have seen any woodlice for most of the summer. That's down to the warmer drier weather. I have no doubt that the horrible things will be back in a couple of months. It is that knowledge that made me order the "Ready Steady Defend" product. The plastic bottle of 250g powder arrives sealed into a polythene bag. There hadn't been any discernable leakage of powder during transit which was good. The bottle has a sprinkler type of cap so that you can distribute the powder where required very easily. I can't actually atest to the effectiveness of the product at the moment because there isn't any currently any sign of woodlice but having read the labelling and some other reviews it would seem to be an effective method of control. When the time comes I know where the woodlice tend to gather in and around our home so those areas will get a sprinkling of the powder quite soon. In the past we have mainly used sprays but actually I think that I prefer a powder to a spray as you can more easily see where the powder is, and get rid of it when used etc. I like that the powder can be used indoors and outdoors. Apparently the powder utilises Diatomaceous Earth - and this is, according to my internet searches, made from fossilised remains of tiny organisms called diatoms and they are mainly made from a natural substance called silica. So there! It dehydrates insects thus drying them out and killing them. I noticed that the powder is extremely fine and I would certainly recomment NOT inhaling it - personally I would wear a mask when applying it. At £12.99 this isn't the cheapest woodlice killer I have come across but if it's effective, safe to use & non-toxic, made from a natural substance then it's probably worth the money.
