3rd gen NEST battery works well
Many people seemed to have troubles putting the replacement battery in. At first attempt, I couldn't charge it with mini USB (red blicking) because the battery connector was not clicked in properly into the base. After proper installation, I charge the rechargeable battery again (green blinking) with mini USB for 2 hours.

Doesn't hold charge
First, this battery is of lower capacity than the original Nest battery. About 30% lower. Which would normally mean that at full charge, it should last about 30% less. But it doesn't even last one day. It is just a very low quality battery. It fits and it's not all that difficult to install, but it doesn't work. I'll hold on to the Nest until a real replacement battery becomes available, until then I had to buy a new thermostat. Obviously not another Nest with non-replaceable battery.

Battery works as advertised. Replacement in nest thermostat requires an engineering degree...
The battery works as advertised. After roughly 3 years the battery went dead in my nest thermostat Gen 3. It simply reached end of life and is unable to charge any longer. First the wifi began cutting out and ultimately the thermostat went dead altogether. What baffles me is that there is NO talk of the nature of the nest thermostat being a disposable product after the life of the battery. The nest thermostat is NOT designed to be serviceable. Although there is a battery provider out there and a youtube video on replacing the battery. That all being said watch the video REPEATEDLY before replacing the battery. The 8 points that i learned is that 1. the unit is certainly not for the faint of heart in disassembling. 2. take multiple pictures of the unit as you disassemble 3. the routing of the ribbon cable is everything. 4. the plastic battery coupler on the PCB is design to LIFT UP, not pull laterally. 5. The original battery is glued in place with doubled sided tape and a second line of adhesive. 6. The PCB actually "captures the first ridge of the outer slide ring. I believe this is the indexing counter. 7. Do this on a CLEAN surface as the outer metallic slide ring is lubricated with silicon grease and rapidly attracts dust and dirt. 8. The instruction video show the use of a small PRYING TOOL. Do yourself a favor and get one of these for both the removal of the glued battery, and the disconnection of the battery wire from the plastic coupler on the PCB.Not that this makes any difference, but i am a degreed engineer and very comfortable digging around inside of technical assemblies. I still found this to be a challenge as I had wrongly assumed that it would be a couple screws and 5 minutes. However, it was definitely worth the $14 for the battery, rather then dropping $250 on a new nest thermostat. What I am completely dismayed at is that Nest doesn't tell the world that there is a finite life to the battery and that Nest does NOT support the replacement thereof. That is simply poor design planning at best and potentially consumer fraud at worst. Nest should NOT be selling a $250 device that has to be tossed in the garbage in 3 years just because the battery isn't designed to be replaced! Finally, Kudos the the battery provider to giving the rest of us a way to fix something so simple as a dead battery and the video instruction on how to do so.BTW - the YouTube video shows the gentleman using a small "prying" tool and a pair of project tweezers... I would highly advise getting both these tools out BEFORE you start pulling the thermostat apart. You will be thankful.

Good luck with not breaking the three pin connections.
I didn’t get a chance to use this battery cause the tiny connectors on the nest broke while I was installing this battery.

Life saver.....
This battery saved me 600$ at ones. Else I would've ended up buying the whole new nest thermostat. So 5 stars for this product. So far no issues. I got it 3 months back and still working in good condition. No issues visible. ****Just a note to the buyers. The installation is a little difficult but you'll definitely find the solution for it.

Doesn’t work
Replaced my old battery but it didn’t work, I thought I might have received a defective product so I asked for an exchange. The 2nd one didn’t work either. Didn’t take charge or provide the power to turn my nest 3rd gen.

Be aware that this battery 1.41 Wh at has a much lower rated capacity than original battery of 2.1Wh
The product description indicates that this battery is a replacement of the original battery in the 3rd gen Nest. I expected this battery to be the same voltage AND the same capacity (or better) than the original battery. After accessing the battery in the 3rd gen Nest, I see that the original Nest battery is rated at 2.1 Wh and this battery is only rated at 1.41 Wh.I didn't look closely at the reviews showing the rated capacity of this battery is much lower than the original battery. The vendor should make this difference in capacity clear in their product description.
