Awesome look, great quality
Very happy with this Darth Vader helmet / mask. It looks like the real deal. Wore it last Halloween and received a lot of compliments. It is comfortable to wear and can be adjusted to fit anyone. If you have an appreciation for the character you should definitely consider this piece, it’s worth it!

Well executed. Not perfect but outstanding for the price.
Jazwares write up claims that this design is based off of A New Hope, however, they seem to have just borrowed the write up from EFX’s site rather than making their own. This thing is clearly not designed based off a new hope. It very clearly shows traits in line with Empire Strikes Back given the shiny look, the widows peak is smoother and curved rather than a sharp point, the eyebrows are visible, it has the more muted gunmetal and black facial colors, the eyes are not Amber - They are more of brown gray, and it has the large chin opening below which the actor needed & had requested in Empire strikes back so he could better see his marks on set. All of these details are specific to changes that occurred in the mask coming into empire strikes back that were not in the mask in a new hope. My hat diameter is 7 1/4 and this thing fits me just fine the eyes lineup well it tightens down well, and it’s got a nice walking mechanism to keep the dome on. That said, regardless, it’s well executed as iron looks very realistic and as far superior to Ruby‘s supreme helmet. If you’re not familiar with that one, it’s just not as detail oriented as this. And its eyeglasses are actually on the outside rather than on the inside, which is very clearly Wrong and looks bad. That said the visibility on this is not the greatest. You get warped vision so if you really wanna wear this thing, you probably wanna swap out the lenses.

Great Vader helmet for the money
I just picked this up for $79.00, and I couldn't be happier for the money. The helmet is very nice. It's already painted in a two-tone paint scheme (as it was in the original trilogy) and the dome attachment mechanism is very secure (kinda of a twist-lock), much more solid than Velcro. The previous option for a full-size Vader helmet in this price range was the Rubies supreme helmet, and this helmet is FAR better for the money. It displays very well the out of the box, and doesn't suffer from some bad mis-shaping like the Rubies does. Having said that, there are a few nit-picky things I'd like to point out. First, another review said this was made from the Empire Strikes Back molds, and I'm pretty sure that's not the case. The Original Trilogy Vader helmets are asymmetrical. This is especially noticeable in the triangle of the mouth area where one side of the triangle is longer than the other, giving it a slight "droop" appearance. This helmet is symmetrical. Perhaps they started with a scan of an ESB helmet and then cleaned it up, but it is not a 1:1 match of a screen-used OT helmet. Second, the tusks are not metal, nor is the mesh in the mouth and chin vents. A set of fan-made aluminum tusks and some metal mesh will take this helmet up a notch. Third, the lenses are surface-mounted from the outside, and appear to be vacformed plastic lenses. Again, a fan-made set of acrylic lenses would really improve the overall appearance of the helmet. Finally, the paint job is fine. Not great, but good enough for display. A nice, deep clear coat would greatly improve it. The dome doesn't appear to be painted, just molded in color. In the lighting in my collection room, it seems to have a bit of a gun metal hue to it. Overall, it's a nice piece even with those tiny issues. I'm very happy with it and it has immediately replaced the Rubies Supreme (that I did a LOT of work on to improve) on display in my collection room. There are more accurate Vader helmets available, but at 3 times (or more) the cost of this one. It will make a great base to start with to add those few improvements I've mentioned. One additional thing to note: if you're considering this helmet for a 501st Legion costume, it's not currently acceptable for membership due to some inaccuracies like those I've mentioned above, so do your homework on that before buying it.

Looks great, however...
Its a great helmet, however, it is big. Like maybe 33% bigger than the actual helmet (which makes sense, that one was tailored for one guy, this is a general product). Mostly unnoticeable if you have the rest of the costume though. The plastic ratchet strap is a little loose, hard to tighten when its on your head. However, you may think "Oh just tighten it without the dome part on first!" Sure, but putting that dome part on when you cant see the holes to secure it is INCREDIBLY hard, even with another person. I just put it on and then tighten it that way. It also doesnt have the best airflow, the eye pieces fog up a lot, but hey, it looks good, and thats mostly what matters. Looks? 4/5. Comfort and assembly? 2.5/5. But thats what most of cosplay is anyway. Its not like Vader wore the helmet because it was comfortable anyway. Plenty of space for big heads tho, and that also means you can customize it a little if ya want. (probably want some better airflow if ya wear it for a while tho)

This helmet looks amazing, and it looks huge! Since Prowse (the actor) was 6’7” or so, and this is full size, that’s not surprising. I’m 6’1” and I think it’s ok, haven’t put on the whole outfit yet. The main issue I had was the fit. The adjustable strap in the back doesn’t stay where you set it, and the front is full of protuberances that are not comfortable. This ends up with the helmet not feeling secure and needing to be constantly adjusted, not a good look for a Sith Lord! I solved it (quick and nasty for now) with foam and Velcro. I also mounted an old pair of glasses inside so I can actually see. The foam has enough give that even with the adjustable strap taped, there is enough give to pull the whole helmet on and be secure. So, the helmet looks great, and now it can be worn securely I’m really looking forward to going out in public in the full suit!
