This Is Why We Pray is a book about the customs of Islam, specifically the five pillars, Salah, and Dua. This book is written for children in a story form and is very informative. The book has great representation which is important for not only children of color but Muslim children. Not only is the book informative but it's interactive. It gives the young reader activities to share with their family and engages the reader in critical thinking. I especially love the glossary at the end along with a list of additional resources to learn more. It may be helpful, particularly to the non-Muslim reader, to break the glossary up after each chapter with the terms used in the proceeding chapter. If you are looking to learn more or engage your children in the Muslim faith this is a great book.
