Following the sad loss of my wife to cancer last year I decided to have a complete change to the lounge so setup a state of the art home cinema system as Diane would not allow speakers all over the place. Part of the project meant moving my rather large home built Home Theatre PC into the lounge but had concerns with it being Windows 7 and running Media Portal that the new video 4k video card would have issues finding a suitable driver. I wished something existed that could read my 4tb attached hard drive but superior quality to my current T95 box. I tried the NVIDIA SHIELD but found it bloated and very limited, I then came across this and all my prayers have been answered. I just want it to handle my film and music collection and all this is copying over to my hard drive as I type. Once done I will be able to install the drive into the Dune and through the box settings add my film collection, sorted. So easy so far and trying 8k YouTube content I was extremely impressed with the sound and picture quality. I did have one issue, once booted the box up for the first time the remote refused to connect when holding the correct two buttons for 3 seconds, I was getting nowhere for half an hour, changing the batteries fixed the problem but that may have been coincidence as the box may have still being initialising and just needed a bit of time. I did a manual installation adding my broadband via WiFi and the box connected easily, it then initiated a firmware update which took 10 minutes, moments later the Bluetooth remote also wanted to update and that took seconds. If you want a superb bit of kit to handle your large film and music collection then go for this it really is the right thing. It's robust, well made and looks really good. I connected HDMI to the amp and the phono outputs to my music sockets on my amp, probably didn't need to do both but just felt sound may be better if music was sent by dedicated source such as the phono outputs. I have never been so happy with a purchase as much as this, it's incredible. Footnote; Sampled my first video from box to my Dolby Surround amp and it had to be Blade Runner, brilliant, absolutely brilliant, better than the cinema with all my home comforts. Only gripe is movement sensor or neutral button to light up backlit remote would be nice. tj

We tried the full size version first, but it had a fault and was put off trying another, This is to replace my Ewheat one. The internal drive 12TB took me 2 days to put old TV and music on it. Using all 4 USB's along with a USB Hub for more sockets. Have 6 x HDD or SSD's plugged din, So it has a lot of work to do on first switch on. It runs smoothly, so fay not had any problems with it, Still getting used to the remote functions. Some media players don't play all formats, so far not found one that does not play. So if you are looking for a high quality media player, this is the one. Also, it has apps for streaming channels. Well worth it

Quite a polished machine, zero sort of instructions, guides, so its very much a learning process. Playing audio files it does sound very clean. The application for creating a music library is awful, I was hoping for something akin to Music Bee but this is nothing even close. The initial set up is haphazard, frustrating, trying to get the remote control to be recognised is shocking. I had to plug in a USB keyboard in to negotiate my way around the initial set up until the remote bizarrely was recognised. Very expensive for what it is, I had a Sumvision 4k before this, it cost me less than £50 and was excellent value for money, the question I must ask is this Dune Solo 8K 'ten times' better, given it costs 'ten times' more ? The answer is a resounding 'No', I feel I can't recommend this unit, its too hit and miss with the set up process and theres no information on how to create music libraries.

Brilliant, just brilliant. Way better than my Zappiti, which was worse than the Dune Base 3 before that. I had to switch the (very nice) Dune remote to IR and port the codes to my SofaBaton X1 to avoid using two remotes (I’ve uploaded the IR code set to SofaBaton as “Dune HD” in case that’s helpful - the set should work for all the HD models)

Excellent product , once setup it’s very easy to use . You can use the device with our without internal hdd , I’m using both I have a 10tb internal drive and 4 external hard drive with a combined 18tb of 4k films . Plays all audio formats and Dolby Atmos & DTS-X . It blows my previous Nvidea shield out the water in performance .

As with any to addtion to Media Player world, There is going to be teething troubles, NOT problems. As stated in the headline PQ is superb, And the new processor is very fast. Build quality is excellent, Lots of settings to tweak if you are into that, Otherwise straight forward.

Expensive, but worth it. Native ISO playback is excellent. Media scraper is mostly very accurate. Solid hardware.

Très bel appareil Il donne une impression de qualité et de robustesse. Interface différente du Zidoo Z30 PRO mais une fois qu'on s'y habitue c'est très bien aussi, même si j'ai un faible pour le Zidoo. il faut évidemment une télévision minimum 4K pour en profiter pleinement. Upscaling très bien. Tous les formats vidéo et audio actuels y sont … Après un an d'utilisation j'en suis très content. Toutefois petit bémol avec le format DTS qui n'est pas toujours lu sur certaines TV LG en particuliers. on peut contourner le pb soit avec un ampli audio ou barre de son ou faire une modification dans les réglages... Je n'ai testé que la partie vidéo films série etc tout formats ce qui est sa fonction principal à mon sens...
