Helped catch a water leak through drywall!
By complete chance, I noticed discoloration in the ceiling of a bedroom that I immediately suspected was due to a water leak. On a whim decided to use the TopDon camera to see if could confirm and identify the source and it absolutely pinpointed the leak by showing temperature differentials between the dry and wet areas of the ceiling drywall. You can even see how well it highlights ceiling joists which helps identify the area. Saved me a ton of time AND additional damage; absolutely worth every penny spent! Couple extra things to note: - Your battery will get drained faster, obviously, and the phone will get warm - The software is a bit funky - and the AI agent is kinda useless at this point, but a novel idea. - Built quality is awesome; feel very solid and functions perfectly - Image quality is great!

Solid camera and good software
Solid feeling device. Nice case with 2 cables, key one for me, lightning to usb-c. No problems connecting via cable to an iPhone 14. App functions well and fairly easy to out the camera to work without really having to read the manual. But I did, calibrated everything and verified the temperature readings with a kitchen thermometer in hot water. Complaints of the unit “clicking” well, do some homework. That’s by design to stay calibrated. It’s a sub $300 thermal camera that records accurate pictures and video to your phone or device. If you want professional grade FLIR, chuck another zero on the cost. Solid device, good software. Testing some things for work….dell server, touch screen PC, AXIS cameras, switch and wireless AP

Wonderful thermal camera
I was on the fence for years about buying a thermal camera, until our energy bill spiked drastically last month. Looked for a USB-C device that works with iPhone 15, and found this Topdon one as the only that doesn’t require a lightning-to-USB-C adapter. Chose a dongle instead of a standalone device for simplicity and to keep the price low. Resolution and picture taking was also key. Put up attic stairs insulation (unfortunately) before buying the TC002C, but was surprised at heat leaking around the edges (color photo). Put HVAC duct tape around the edges and immediately saw a dip of 2 degrees, despite it being later in the day and hotter outside. The only way to see that effectiveness was with the thermal camera; even my laser thermometer has too wide of a spot to be that pinpointed. Plus, seeing all of the temp ranges at once is fantastic. The most important advice I have is to learn the app. Changing the filter colors is situational, but I prefer the grayscale because it’s not as busy. Using the spotting options is extremely important; you can choose to drag line, grid, go full frame, or manually place dots—using them appropriately makes comparing location temps so easy. And you can change the font color on the settings page, which helps a ton. Turn on the automatically connect camera and save settings in the Learn More (why??) page. Overall, I absolutely love this device because it just works. And the app is way more useful than any of the YouTube reviews of the TC002 showed.

Handy Little Heat Checker with a Spooky Surprise
I mainly use this gadget for my graphic installations. It connects right to my phone, letting me scan and make sure my vinyl’s getting hot enough during post-heating. Works great for that purpose! I even tested it out one night in a cemetery full darkness and something that looked like an opossum popped up on the scan. Scared the life outta me, but hey, it proved the thing works! I’m giving it four stars because the image feed can lag now and then; I just wish it responded a bit quicker. But overall, it’s a solid little tool and definitely worth the money.

Works pretty dang good!
It’s pretty neat and it does show variances in temperature on exterior walls and works really well for its price point

Excellent tool, prefer this phone type to the standalone units
First of all, I've been waiting far too long to get a thermal imager. This one offers a usb c connection to the newer iPhones (15 and up) meaning it attaches as an extension of the phone. It also includes a cable if you prefer using it a little further away. Reason I like these units rather than the standalone is: - you don't need to keep another thing charged - the "software" is as easily updated as the App Store app is updated and tends to be much much better So far, I have easily detected the following: 1. the healing of a swollen foot (pictured), 2. where the heck the leak was below the patio (pictured) 3. why the tv room was so hot (pictured) 4. where the cat was (pictured) 5. where the "heat leaks" were from the attic (not pictured) For that alone, this easily saves much more than the list price, although when I purchased it was significantly discounted from list. Also included is a very handy and small soft carry box which protects the unit and houses the extension cables. Now for the caveats: 1. The App. While the app is overall excellent, it is not up to par with top notch apps: the interface is a little clunky and the pictured "freezes" occasionally for a second or two while it recalibrates. This happens more when you first start using the unit but it happens pretty regularly as the calibration happens. I do hope they optimize that and make it "freeze free" 2. The temperature read drifts by a few degrees so that the same object reads a different value. My guess is this is why the unit needs to recalibrate every so often.

Got this for £11 from Amazon warehouse. Thought it was a joke but it works perfect and is brand new boxed. Weird. But excellent value. £220 off RRP.

I wasn’t sure about a phone based thermal camera as I do home inspections and the other inspectors are all using hand held thermal imagers but this camera rivals anything that the others can do. Clear pictures of in floor heating systems, base board heaters, ovens, electrical panels, etc.

Easy to operate once u figure everything out but just plug and play. So far works good and time will tell. Power works off of ur phone so no need to charge or put batteries in. Little expensive but if it lasts u’ll enjoy it. Picks things up at a good distance u’ll just have to play with the settings for a good pic. I like it.
