No stink at all! Seals tight.
I bought this unit in May. We've used it several times now. My wife has Crohn's disease and this gives her confidence to go camping again in our teardrop. It's easy to use and functions so well. It's very sturdy. Remember to read the instructions. Failure to vent before flushing can cause a messy tush. There has never ever been a smell come from this. We do use the Walex Porta-PaK in the bottom holding tank. The door between the holding tank and upper water tank/seat seals really well, preventing stink. The top tank holds enough water to flush it almost 40 times. The flush does a pretty decent job of cleaning it without using the included sprayer. The longest outing we've used this on was 6 days. The tank held it all for two people. Dumping the holding tank has been very easy because of the long pipe that swivels out to dump. The Walex pods also keep everything a slurry so there is no solid chunks left. The packs dissolve in water and bacteria eats the waste. This pod also keeps it from stinking much when dumping. It kinds of smells like Pepto Bismol. After dumping I just flush with a 50/50 bleach water solution and it's as good as new. It didn't feel gross like I thought it would. Highly recommend this unit. I would buy it again. The only con I have is the top lid could be a bit more rigid and strong. Pair this unit with the Walex Porta Paks.

Great Toilet
Bought 2 weeks ago, first use this weekend camping. Worked great, easy setup and use, easy clean out. Fit well in our tent. No more going to the portal john at night. Size was perfect.

Good portable toilet solution
Good portable toilet solution. Spent a week at the beach and needed an environmentally friendly option since there was not any bath house or restrooms nearby. This held plenty of water, was comfortable and easy to use as well. Just don't forget to purge the vent before use! Otherwise it only takes once to forget and you won't do that again. Would recommend, wish it came with a carrying bag or something. Keep the box it ships in to help you carry it with you.

Probably one of the best inexpensive choices
A lot of crazy reviews out there. Guess what, this works better than a 5 gallon bucket with a commode seat on top! This is a very sturdy portable toilet, except the plastic plunger handle for rinsing the toilet bowl. I like the compact size, yet large storage. There is very little smell if you pour some water in the base unit first, otherwise ammonia type odors build up. Lids work well, seat works well, valve handle is easy to use. Remember to open valve handle first and you may get a bullseye so there is nothing to clean up. The water pump handle could be better built and it takes careful effort to pull it up, then you push it down and water flows around the bowl. This is where aggressive people are going to break this unit, perhaps a bit of olive oil on the mechanism will make it easier to use, therefor harder to break. I like the large clasps, the water meter, which only measures fresh water available, not your dirty water level. I like the separation feature, the discharge tube is very sturdy. And I like the looks of this unit, it is not obtrusive. While our sewers get repaired, this is a lifesaver, and yes, I would put it in the van or car for emergency use, might want to get one of those privacy hoops if needed. For the price, this is a bargain, considering shipping is free for a bulky item that would normally cost $30, so that is a big savings. I looked at the Thetford, and it really didn't have any features in comparison. I do think a push button over pressure valve, or a pressure relief valve would be nice with this type of unit, you can probably buy one inexpensively and install it yourself to make a perfect portable toilet.

Sturdy
Great little portable toilet. Big enough to be used for few day before having to empty. Comfort to use both for men and women. Holds well for 270lb man to use Smell if you don't use the pods in it bought separately. Worth the money
