Very nice knife.
Knife is sharp! Well made and is balanced right at the handle tang junction. Light and fast, but comfortable in the hand. I would buy another hands down.

Sharp, Light, and Handles Well But Defective
The packaging presentation is really nice. The knife is very light and so I wonder about durability. The tip of the knife is off centered, and I hope it doesn’t affect the knife. Out of the box, the knife is very sharp. I cut into a partially frozen steak and was able to make very thin cuts. It cut very well. I am delightfully impressed! If it can hold the edge sharpness and not chips, this will be a massive win for the price. Update: Returning because the knife is defective. I question if the knife is VG10 because the edge is sharp but defective. I cut partially frozen chuck, and a melon.

Great knife for the price
I've been using this knife for awhile now and I've been impressed with it so far. It retains a nice, sharp edge, cuts well and feels good in the hand. I haven't had any chipping or rust so far, but I do maintain it properly and avoid using it on hard materials like bone or nuts. Which you shouldn't be using a Japanese knife for anyway. I also wash and wipe it dry after every use. If you're willing to treat this knife properly, it will serve you well and it's a great knife for the price, when you catch it on sale.

The kiritsuke is a beautiful knife and the handle shape feels really good in the hand. The blade is very sharp and with the k tip it looks like a small samurai sword. The only issue i have is that the turquoise doesn't shrink at the same rate as the wood in a dry climate so there is a slight difference in thickness between the stone and the wood. This isn't really visible but you can feel a slight difference where they meet. All-in al, it is a fantastic knife at this price point.
