A man of his age who changed the thinking of that age. In some ways for the better but, sadly in other ways for the worse.

Where to start... 1. Only the second treatise is here, despite the title saying both are included. 2. No contents page, which I guess doesn’t matter because there are... 3. No page numbers! 4. No title on the spine 5. Printing errors throughout This is hands down, the very worst edition of any book I’ve ever had the misfortune to hold in my hands. Everyone involved in producing it should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Printed by Amazon and unfortunately could have done with some quality control, there are some typesetting errors such as what looks like a missed chapter heading for chapter 3

This edition only includes the Second Treatise. It does not have a contents page, page numbering, sections are not separated but instead are just in one-paragraph print. DO NOT BUY!!

This version of the book only contains the second half! It's called 'Two' Treatises of Government, only the second treatise is there, disappointed.

Great product. (This is a review of the recording by Knowledge Products, in its Giants of Political Thought series, part of its Audio Classics series, of John Locke's Two Treatises of Government.) This product explains in a very interesting manner the political context of 17th century Britain, in which Locke's two treatises were written. They were not written purely as a theoretical tract. They were actually written during revolutionary plots in which Locke was participating. He was no armchair political theorist. He was knee deep in revolutionary intrigue. This product also discusses the FIRST treatise of government -- on ecclesiastical government, which is rarely read or discussed. It's fascinating. George H. Smith did a great job in writing the script of this work on Locke and his two treatises. This product is recorded professionally by professional voice actors, with a full cast of actors. This makes it more interesting to listen to. I have listened to it probably a dozen times. Each time, I find something interesting.

This was an inspiring book to read! I now have a clearer understanding of the principles that inspired the Founding Fathers. We have completely lost site of the proper role of government and of the natural rights that it is supposed to protect. While the writing style was difficult to understand at times, it was a good exercise to stretch my reading comprehension skills and I still came away knowing more about principles of government than I ever have! We need to teach these truths to others and restore them as common knowledge among our people once again. Only then will the current problems we face in Washington be eliminated and will real liberty again reign in America!

John Locke is not one of America's founding fathers. He did have a great influence on men like Jefferson. I hate to admit this but much of it was above my level of understanding. I am amazed at the intellectual genius of many early leaders. I understood some. This is something that should be studied in depth.
