Subterra Checked Spinner, Dark Slate

This is a well made travel bag. I saw Thule products in a store while on a vacation. Decided to purchase when I returned home and also read the reviews.

I took my first trip with this suitcase this past week. I was gone for six days. Everything fit easily into the case. I was concerned how the exterior would do, being checked. It came off the plane looking brand new. The wheels glide. I love the outter pocket for my jacket, sweatshirt and pj’s. It is well balanced and I look forward to using it again. I also have the carry on roller. I love it, too.

Any Thule spinner luggage is top notch. Very hard to find!

Just received my product and it a timely manner and it is very well constructed. My last Thule luggage lasted of 350 flights and still works but is getting haggard after 6 years of Business travel. Well constructed and easy to see amongst the other checked luggage at the airports. Love that this checked bag has spinner wheels on this. I love the well constructed handles. Will report back when I take my next trip in two weeks and head back out in the sales regions.

Nice luggage, but unbalanced regardless of how you pack. The wheel base is very narrow, and the luggage is prone to tipping because of how the front sticks out beyond the wheels. Good capacity - enough space for a week. The wheels feel very cheap, do not expect it to be very durable. Too big to carry on, must be checked. Own several Thule luggage pieces, this one is by far the worst.

This is a sleek, nice looking bag. It looked like new on the outside after a long international journey. My big issue is with the wheels! They were not stable and many times this piece of luggage just flipped sideways for no apparent reason. I was so nervous about its performance that I took to using both hands to keep it upright. I would never chose to take this one on a long journey again; it has been relegated to a weekend bag, at best.

After a decade with my old checked bag, I finally decided it was time for an upgrade. I browsed everything from basic budget options to high-end luxury brands and surprisingly stumbled on the Thule Subterra 2 while looking at camping gear. I didn’t even know Thule made luggage, but this one immediately caught my eye. The design is sleek, modern, and built with quality and function in mind. The materials feel durable, and the layout maximizes interior space with a few thoughtfully placed compartments. The wheels roll smooth and quietly, and the extendable handle is sturdy and stable with no wobbling like I’ve seen with some other well-known brands. I’ve taken it on two trips so far: a cross-country flight and a long-haul to Hawaii. Both trips were 10-14 days and fit a lot. Unfortunately, on the return leg from Hawaii, the bag suffered some noticeable exterior damage. I'm not sure what happened during baggage handling, but it looks like it got snagged or stabbed by something and there's some notable damage to the outer shell. My previous checked bag was also a softer shell but didnt have any outer damage after 10+ years of usage so I'm not sure if this is a one off issue that I encountered or if this is prone to happen to others. It is luggage so I expect some wear and tear over time but sad that it happened on only my 2nd trip but that's life. Despite this, I’m still impressed. It’s functional, stylish, and well designed.

I've never had a better suitcase...moves easily, holds a lot!

I’m probably not the best person to give this review because I simply love Thule. I have purchased most of the Subterra 2 range and absolutely love the quality, style and design of all the products. I particularly chose the spinner suitcase as it’s easier to manoeuvre. I was surprised how light the suitcase is and Thule always designs the most versatile and convenient packing spaces. The only downside is the lack of a fitted locking device so you will need to buy 2 locks to secure your belongings. Other than that, I’m supper satisfied with my purchase.

Dieser Koffer ist für mehrtägige und lange Reisen ein echter Volltreffer. Stabil, leicht und unempfindlich dank der weichen Schale. Der Zugriff auf wichtige Gegenstände ist sehr gut gelöst durch ein Fach von oben. Sehr praktisch und flexibel in der Größe. Besonders gut finde ich den Teleskopgriff, der deutlich stabiler bei ist anderen Herstellern die ich nutze. Das Volumen von 68 Liter ist für meine 3-tägigen Reisen perfekt und so selten zu finden.
