So far so good...worried a little about the included glasses
Update1: well, this isn't a laser at all. It is called IPL which means intense pulsed light. Apparently, it is used for hair reduction by tarteting melanin. It destroys the hair producing part. I feel better about the glasses now since it isn't a targeted laser, but a broad spectrum light. Still, the ones I have seen are mostly green or brown and the included ones are not. I am still going to look for a reputable pair of glasses for IPL for hair removal. Also, I make sure no one else (including pets) are in the same room.Original review: This device sort of looks like a large electric razor (or an old school shoe flash for a 35mm camera!) You place it on your skin in a 90 degree/perpendicular angle and push a button. The red light flashes, and you move to the next area. That is about all there is too it.It has other features like a gliding mode if you want to do larger areas (like legs) or spot mode for doing one section, moving it and doing the next. It also is adjustable in intensity to reduce any discomfort. It recommends a test area to determine your level of comfort. I turned it all the way to 9 (the highest) and never did feel any discomfort in the spot mode (and I do have sensitive skin) but you may be different. It senses when the machine is on your skin before the button will activate the flash. It flashes a bright red. The box comes with sunglasses to protect your eyes. I still close mine because I really notice the flash. I initally thought I found a reuse for my eclipse glasses but that is WRONG! Apparently these lasers are a different wavelength. I don't really understand the type of glasses that are best for this type of laser I am hoping that the ones provided are correct (and do close my eyes like I said!) but they seem a little cheap and just are black...others I have seen online are green or red. I have to do more research on this.It does note that works only on light skin to remove dark hair. I guess it targets dark specks. I did worry because sometimes I get clogged pores around my upper lip close to my nose, and didn't want those targeted. I only wanted the shaved dark hair chosen ( you are to shave hair first and a razor is included but any will work.) so I did exfoliate first to hopefully give the tool the best chance. It says to use it 2-3 times a week for the first 1-3 weeks (for 70% hair reduction) then 2 times a week for 4-6 weeks (for 85% hair reduction), and then after 6 weeks, 1 treatment every 1-2 months for maintenance. I just started so we shall see if I experience reduction. And I know I will miss areas, but try to do the best I can.It doesn't hurt or anything while using it (I only tried a few small areas so far. I should mention that there is an "FDA" logo, but the wording is odd. It says "made in an FDA approved facility." What does that mean!? Sometimes items have the logo that it is approved by the FDA, but it often is for safety, not necessarily for effectiveness. I am not that worried that it will hurt me anymore than say...all that stupid suntanning I did when I was younger. But I am wary of my eyes. I don't look toward it at all for now until I can figure out the glasses thing. I will update this when (if) I figure it out.

I'm seeing results with less hair growing back.
This Hikyskin IPL hair remover is llegit when used correctly. The glasses are dark so they make it a little difficult to see where your zapping. You need to use it plugged in and at the correct angle, while touching your skin or else it won't work. This took a little time to master. It also does a continuously zap by holding down the button. I use it on level nine now. I started on level one and gradually worked my way up. Level nine feels like a quick rubberband snap during the flash and there a distinct hair burning smells, but to me it feels like that means it's working. I've been using it 2 to 3 times per week when I get out of the shower after shaving. It's a tedious process that takes time and patience. I originally started with all my body parts and realized I just didn't have enough time so I focused on my bikini area, arm pits and upper lip. I can say that I've seen significant improvement in the amount of hair I have. I have dark, thick hair and I'm having less to shave. And for all the people worried about using it on your upper lip because you're scared of getting of cold sores (because any type of trama to you lips can cause them), I haven't had a problem. I also haven't experienced any sensitivity or any buring afterwards when applying lotion. I'm so excited to move on to my legs and have less hair to shave throughout the summer.

Effective hair removal with PATIENCE and perserverence
At home laser treatments are HOT right now!!!! Everyone is wanting to try these devices and if you are reading my review, I am assuming the trend has struck your curiosity, as well. :)SUPER IMPORTANT! Be sure to research the hair color/skin tone chart BEFORE ordering as this product isn't suitable for everyone. Not only do you receive the beautiful purple IPL device, you also get glasses, a razor, and a power cord with wall adapter. The razor was a nice little surprise! The laser itself has a sleek, compact, modern design. It reminds me of a travel toothbrush case. It's comfortable to hold and smaller than many IPL device that I have tried. It didn't cause any hand stiffness or discomfort during use.I strongly recommend reading all of the instructions before beginning. It isn't a one time thing. If you think you are going to use this one time and be hair free, well... you will be disappointed. It requires several weeks of regular use, sometimes months, to see actual results.Be sure to wear the included glasses to protect your eyes. No one else should be in the room, including pets, while the device is in use. There are nine different intensity settings. If you are new to IPL hair removal, I would start out with the lower settings for the first few weeks. The sensation isn't necessarily painful, just noticeable, but the cooling effect does help tremendously. If you have sensitive skin, it may be a bit more painful. You do have to shave first for the process to work properly.I have been using the device regularly for a month. The hair seems to be growing in slower and less coarse. I am hoping with extended use (several months), the hair will eventually stop growing altogether. (or, at the very least, prolong the amount of time that I can go in between shaves) Very optimistic based on the results that I have already seen!
