4,5 starsIn the first book ‘The War God’s favorite’ we were introduced to the Dragon Empire, the royal family that ruled there and the dragons that lived there. I really loved that story, so I was really excited about the next story in the series. My expectations were high for this one! The second story ‘The white knight’s favorite’ takes place in the Eastern Kingdom, a neighboring country of the Dragon Empire. The Eastern Kingdom is a country broken and ruined caused by the years of rule of a tyrannical leader, a war against the Dragon Empire and internal conflict between the many different tribes living there. The population lives in poverty and fear. Prince Ashen, the White King, is now the new ruler but he’s young and the many tribes and dangerous bandits make it hard for the young king to lead the kingdom to a peaceful future. The hope is that having a wife at his side will help bring more stability to the country. The tribes each nominate a candidate from their tribe but to their surprise there’s another participant, a princess from the Dragon Empire. Will this princess bring peace and heal the country and the broken heart of the White King?Just like the first book, this was another BIG book (with more than 600 pages) and I enjoyed every page. This author really knows how to hold my attention for a very long time and even left me wanting more after finishing it. The main female character in this story was princess Cessilia (or Cessi like everyone called her). Cessi was the eldest daughter of Cassandra and Prince Kairen (the main characters in the first book). Although most of the characters in this story were new, there were some familiar faces in this story as well. I was happy to learn how the Dragon Empire and the royal family were doing so many years later. So in that context I would recommend that you start this series with the first book.There were many main characters in this story, you had princess Cessi, her niece Tessa, their (new) friend Naptunie (Nana), Nana’s older brother Sabael and the white king Ashen. In the first part of the story, Ashen stayed more in the background. It was the other characters that really supported the story. Ashen remained a mysterious and grumpy character for a long time. We didn’t really get to know him until much later in the story. Because of this, it took me some time to really connect with him. I didn’t really understand Cessi’s fascination with him until secrets were revealed and I got to know him better. I liked him more at the end of the story. I realized that he suffered a lot from a young age and had a great sense of responsibility. Yes, he could be hot-tempered and ruthless at times, but he had a good heart (which he hid well). He was open to Cessi’s ideas and advise.Cessi was a shy girl and due to a tragic event in the past, she had a large scar and a stutter. Therefore, most people considered her as weak but she was strong, intuitive, intelligent and caring. I really liked her. Just like her mother, she was interested in medicine and herbs, but thanks to her father she could also fight. It was wonderful to see Cessie connect with the people of the Eastern Kingdom in her own quiet, serene way. How she treated everyone with respect. Cessi’s two older brothers also played a role in the story. The bond between Cessie and her brothers was loving, supportive and loyal (the same can be said for the rest of the family members).Cessi’s niece was also an interesting character. She was the opposite of Cessi. She was short-tempered, loud, a bit wild but also very protective of Cessi. They weren’t only nieces but also best friends.Their friend Nana was very intelligent, knowledgeable and friendly (she knew everyone). She loved to read and had a thirst for knowledge. She wanted to learn everything. She gave Cessi great advice. And just like Cessie, she was also underestimated by most people.Just like in the first story, there were dragons. I love them, they’re fascinating creatures, each with their own unique character.I don’t want to give away too much of the story, some things you just have to discover for yourself. But I can say that the story was told from many POV’s. The story was entertaining (some scenes had me laugh), at times it was emotional (especially some scenes between Cessi and Ashen), there was action (there were frequent fights and deaths and they weren’t all the fault of the dragons!) and there were also a few sex scenes in the story. The story wasn’t perfect (just like the first book), I found some details a bit confusing. Like the age different between Cessi and Ashen and the names of the many different tribes/families.But overall, I really liked this story (although book one is still my favorite). I will definitely reread this story in the future.

The characters were so well thought out and the storyline kept you engaged the entire time. Couldn’t stop reading it.

This is the perfect continuation for the Dragon Empire!! Being able to see the War God's children grow and evolve was entertaining, exciting, and at times heart breaking. Jenny knows exactly how to keep her readers captivated and yearning for more. This steamy adventure had me giggling and kicking my feet while also bringing me to tears both out of horror and happiness.

The story moved along very well. There were a few surprises I didn't expect. This story is a definite read.

I am a big fan of this series. I love the way they joke around with each other and have lots of babies to make life exciting. I have laughed so much with the smart comments, the banter, enjoyed the adventure, the catiness, everything. I cannot wait to read about Kassian and Bastat, Nana and Darsan, and the rest of the family.

This is the second book in this series and I couldn't put it down. Of course anything Dragon is okay by me. The characters are well developed and the story is action packed. Very well written by this author and I can't wait for the third book. This series is definitely a must read.

It's a great continuation of the series

The book starts off slow, but don’t give up on it. Everything makes sense in the end. Jenny Fox does a great job at telling the story from the different characters’ point of view. Their character developments are amazing too! Featuring the characters from TWGF was a touch that I enjoyed. The book emphasizes the importance of believing in yourself, family, and being open to change. I enjoyed the way she highlighted the importance of acknowledging your trauma (if you have any) but not letting it define you. I couldn’t put this book down. Although, I would’ve liked to see more of how the other relationships progressed. Especially Darsan and Nana!

Jenny Fox is an amazing writer, the vivid scenes and characters. The wonderful storytelling. Even when you knew something big was in the works for the characters, the gradual unveiling was torcher in the most delicious way. I can't wait for book 3!!!

Geweldig boek, begon te lezen en wilde niet meer stoppen, alle ingrediënten zitten in de dit boek, goede en duidelijke verhaallijn, love, draken, spanning, verraad. Geweldige schrijver. Geen 1 boek van haar valt tegen

Un racconto che inizia già con delle “questioni in sospeso” che ti portano a leggere pagina dopo pagina per capire.Tornare all’Impero, ritrovare Cassandra e Kairen e scoprire cosa è successo dopo l'epilogo del primo libro, è un piacere.Il romanzo racconta la storia di Cessilia, figlia della coppia imperiale, e del Re di Eastern Kingdom.La competizione per diventare Regina, vecchie ferite e nuovi nemici regalano una storia emozionante.Per quanto riguarda la storia, intesa come trama, ho preferito quella di Cassandra e Kairen.Tuttavia come scrittura ho preferito questo secondo libro. Ci sono le scene Spicy quando servono, ci sono le battute e le scene esilaranti (innamorata di Darsan), pur non mancando i momenti di serietà.Note, a mio parere, negative:_ molti personaggi, la maggior parte dei quali presentati contemporaneamente nello stesso capitolo, se ne esce quasi ubriachi per capire chi fa parte di cosa, ricordare nomi e fazioni;_ molte parti ripetitive, è capitato di saltare qualche pezzo di pensieri già espressi e ritrovarsi le frasi quasi uguali nella pagina successiva.

Genau wie der erste Teil "The War God's Favorite" hat Jenny Fox mit "The White King's Favorite" ein unfassbar tolles Buch der Dragon Empire Saga geschrieben!Auch dieses Buch erzählt mit über 600 Seiten ausdrucksstark die Geschichte der beiden Hauptprotagonisten. Die Geschichte von Cessilia (Cassandras Tochter) spielt zwar im Eastern Kingdom, aber man erfährt dennoch sehr viele Hintergrundinformationen über die Geschichte der beiden Länder und über die Geschichte der Drachen generell.Wie im ersten Teil schafft es die Autorin die Charaktere detailliert darzustellen, sodass man tief in deren Welt und Gefühlslage abtauchen kann. Natürlich dürfen auch in diesem Teil die Spicy-Szenen nicht fehlen, sind im Gegensatz zum Vorgänger meines Erachtens aber weniger (was aber definitiv nicht stört!). Zudem gibt es viele Wendungen und spannende Szenen, die ein Weglegen des Buches erschweren.Auch am Ende lässt sich die Autorin Zeit, die Geschichte nicht zu schnell auslaufen zu lassen und ist meiner Ansicht nach besser gelungen als im vorherigen Teil.Sprachlich lässt sich das Buch sehr gut lesen und hat im Gegensatz zum ersten Buch auch weniger Fehler. Das Cover finde ich hingegen wie auch bei "The War God's Favorit" nicht ansprechend, da es mir viel zu überladen ist und sowohl das Schloss als auch die Figuren im Buch anders beschrieben werden. Deswegen auch nur 4 Sterne. Ich denke ein schlichtes Cover mit dem jeweiligen Drachen der Hauptfigur wäre sehr ansprechend.Im ganzen kann ich dieses Buch nur allen empfehlen, die auf Fantasy, Drachen, Liebe und Kämpfe steht. Ich bin gespannt wie das dritte Buch der Reihe wird!

I have read both the dragon empire saga stories and they both had me hooked from start to finish.Brilliant stories, I can't wait for more.
