Ker Nethalas: Into the Midnight Throne Review: Great fun - Fun to play alone. even better as a duo with a friend. Review: One of the Best Solo RPGs Out There - Do you love RPGs, but don't have a group to play them with? Then GET THIS BOOK! Ker Nethalas is an amazing experience in a single 200 page book. All you need are your standard set of RPG dice (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20 and Percentile D100s) and then you'll be trying to escape the depths of infinite dungeons (called Domains). Rooms, Corridors, Traps, Events, Lore, Traders, Loot (lots of Loot), Monsters -- all driven by die rolls on tons of random tables. Delve until you manage to find and defeat the Overseer boss or the exit. But you want to do both, because that Overseer drops some awesome loot. The game uses a skill-based dice mechanism where you roll D100s to roll lower than your skill value. One really cool feature is anytime in the game if you roll doubles on a skill check (even if you failed), you get a change to increase your value for that skill at your next camp rest. I own about five Blackoath Entertainment games and they are all amazing. Alex T, the author, is an RPG machine and the community he has created around his games is one of the best.

Best solo rpg I've ever played
My husband is a gamer so I bought him a stack of solo rpgs after we moved far away from his gaming group. He played through the stack and enjoyed them but set them aside. Then he picked up this one and disappeared for days into his man cave. "Best solo I've ever played", he said. I liked rpgs too, but isn't the point to get with friends and have fun as a group? Solo?? I tried it. The rules were quick to learn, the character creation gave you a lot of options. Rolling up a 'weak' character was offset by the system so that you weren't hopelessly doomed, nor overpowered by super rolling either. The mysteries gave your character a bit more power than a first level character in other systems, but I soon found out that my characters needed it because the catacombs of Ker Nerthalas alas have little pity. It is a tough adventure. The mood is gloomy, gritty, and dark. This might be the only solo game I've ever played but it has an intimacy that group games do not have. My husband plays these a lot and this is hands down his favorite. He tends to like the sword and I like the sorcery. With the mysteries you can even mix the two.

Solo dungeon crawl
Think solo dnd and you're close. This book has everything to start a character running through a random dungeon. You'll seek out bosses and face monsters aplenty. System works great. I enjoy it though I found myself the rp element of a tabletop rpg. I felt a little dice roll fatigue as I moved room to room, but still feel it's a solid solo experience.

My favorite solo RPG
This dungeon delving tabletop RPG is easy to learn, fun to play, and offers hours of old school hack and slash adventures with a sinister twist. It’s an endless necropolis with multiple player options, engaging combat, unique mechanics, and is hands down my new favorite solo RPG.

Great Game!
Great game. Plays smoothly and quick. A lot packed into a small book.

Clean, easy system for solo play
This RPG uses a very straightforward, fast moving game system that is well suited for solitaire play. Don’t know how it would work with a group of players, and some people might not like it lack of a “tactical“ feel. But for a light game, or a game at a con, I think this would be a good choice. Character creation is especially well done and interesting and the premise (trapped in a necropolis) is intriguing.
