Shoes are not comfortable
Shoe do not fit ( too loose. I bought a inner sole from Amazon and it was a bit too thick. I resorted to removing the inner sole from my old NUNN BUSH loafers that these new shoes were replacing , and put them in the new shoes. This was better but the fit is still poor. I guess I am stuck with these shoes but will never buy another shoe from that brand. Not pleased at all but unfortunately did not return them within the time limit.

Nice quality shoes at a reasonable price
This is a very nice shoe with a couple of quirks! First off, the quality, fit, and presentation of these shoes is really nice. The box is very sturdy, each shoe arrives in a cloth dust bag, and the pair comes with a shoe spoon, which is a nice touch. As far as fit, these shoes fit like a glove. I do think they tend to run a little on the smaller side of the size, however, since the size I usually wear is almost always a bit large. Overall, however, they are very comfortable for a slip on dress shoe, and are very well made. The leather has begun to soften over the past few days as the shoes are getting broken in, and it looks very nice. I’m impressed with the quality and materials; I feel like with some care, these shoes will last for a long time. As others have mentioned, the one annoying thing about these shoes is the protective plastic that comes on the soles. It was quite the job to get it all off, especially since it refused to come off all in one piece. I don’t think that’s a deal breaker though. For the price, these are a good value and I am happy with them!

A Good Value in a Semi Formal to Casual Shoe
Journey West Men's Penny Loafers turned out to be a decent pair of comfortable and attractive shoes for the office and other semi formal occasions. They are good quality and although they are not of upper end quality, no one will be overly concerned about this. The break in period for these are less than for the more stiff formal leather shoes. The stitching is even and properly tensioned. The leather smell is detectable when held closely to the nose. There is a reddish brown protective peel off layer that protects the upper sole until you have ascertained that you can wear your new shoes.

Very confusing
I unboxed these shoes in my bedroom, which has a polyester carpet (important). I put the shoes on (they fit well) while sitting down, stood up.... and had to grab a chair to prevent myself from slipping over. I felt as though I was standing on wet ice! I carefully walked downstairs to the living room, sat down, and removed the shoes so that I could see what kind of strange super-slippery material the soles were made out of. (Picture 1.) I saw that there was a sticker on each sole, although oddly it felt less slippery than the rest of the sole. And on closer inspection (picture 2) it was clear that the sole was simply a thin layer of slippery plastic, which was already peeling away at the seams. Unacceptable. UPDATE: OK, I decided to see what would happen if I peeled off the thin plastic layer, and after wrestling with it for several minutes (it didn't come off easily), underneath there were perfectly functional rubber-like soles. It would have been nice if there had been some instructions - I certainly haven't seen this before. Since the danger of slipping over had been eliminated, I tried walking around in them. The fit is OK (I'd got one size up to accommodate my wide feet). However, the arch is uncomfortable: it's too far back, so that the highest point is under the front of my heel rather than underneath the instep.
