Arrived quick, for the price these are brilliant! Highly recommended. The finish on them are good and they are quality. Used on this test piece and as you can see straight out the packet they’re good.

A good product, but look carefully at the number of inserts
This is a good product, a set of 12mm lathe tools, all of which are for left hand cuts, there are no right hand cutting tools in the box, so cutting up to a right shoulder is not possible, additional tooling will be required for such operations. The manufacturing is reasonably good, there was a bit of swarf in a couple of the screw holes that needed to be removed before the tips could be fitted and this is where my concern starts. The pictures with the item are not clear on how many carbide inserts you get. In the first picture it shows 5 full sets, one on the tools, two sets in boxes and two sets to the right of the tool. Other pictures show different views and the listing shows different details again. For clarity, you get two sets of 7 various inserts in two different storage boxes, so at least they get to you intact. There are no inserts installed on any of the tools. As the listing is misleading on inserts, and there is some swarf in the threads, which should be cleaned out during manufacturing, I've marked it down a star. The tools and inserts are : A left hand tool with a rhombic shape (around 75 degrees) for heavier cuts A left hand tool with a rhombic shape (around 35 degrees) for tighter corner access A centre mounted tool with a rhombic shape (around 35 degrees) for chamfering. A larger form factor threading tool, which uses a larger insert size. This is nice as many kits include a smaller threading tool which means it can only do the smaller sized threads. A parting off tool , which has a fairly short shoulder length of 11mm, so its more for grooving than parting off, it also has a lump on the right meaning that its more useful for left hand cuts nearer the chuck but is likely to foul if used near a live centre. There are two longer internal boring / cutting bars for internal cuts. One has a small threading tool insert, the other uses the same 75 degree insert type. None of the tools allow the 75 degree inserts to be rotated to use the remaining two cutting faces, so another tool such as a chamfer tool would be a good tool to add to the set. The kit is obviously pulled together from different products since some of the Torx keys used for them vary in style and appearance. The parting off tool comes with two Torx tools, one with the red plastic tab and the metal Allen key style tool. Each tool comes in a standard two part pull apart storage box, which is useful. Each is labelled on the end with the part number and there is space to write the human readable tool type onto it. The tools are also in a plastic bag and the usual shipping goo is on them to protect against rust. This is a useful starter / replacement set for general machining on most home / smaller workshop lathes as the tooling is 12mm sized. Cutting performance was acceptable and I didn't get any chatter from the tools. I can't comment on insert lifespan as I've not cut much on them yet, but in any case they will get replaced over the life of the tools anyhow. Value wise, I note that these come in at about 1/3 of the cost of well known brands such as Glanze
