Good for fixed but not heated or ptz cameras
Small and solves the problem of external power. Good for two fixed cameras. Also works with 12 volt adapters for non-poe devices. (ANVISION 2-Pack Gigabit PoE Splitter, 48V to 12V 2A Ethernet Adapter, for Security Camera, AP, Voip and More, AV-PS12-G)

Excellent - quick option
For those times when you need two POE connections in a small place and no external power - these are excellent. I got to just test out, my expectations were not high. I love it when I am wrong. These things are awesome.

Inexpensive way to double the number of cameras at a given location
Bought this because it was the cheapest option to double the number of cameras at a given location, without having to run additional cable. Works well, plug-and-play In retrospect, I should have paid the extra for the 1-in 4-out version, just to have the extra outputs for a potential future third or forth camera.

Works for splitting POE Camera Power
I had a POE camera that I had ran power for through the attic and soffits. It was going to be difficult to run a new line all the way the way from the source POE switch, through the attic, and to a spot where I wanted to add a new camera. Was able to use this device to take the existing POE line and split it - using one to power the existing camera, and using another ethernet cable to run a short distance to where I wanted my new camera. Works as intended, powers both cameras and no issues so far (about two months in). Would buy again if I needed to work a similar project.

Cheap poe switch with high wattage available
If 100mbit is enough for you (ip cameras), these switches are perfect. You can even get away with 800 feet of distance if you are comfortable with 10mbit speeds (again, okay for configured ip cameras). Downsides of this switch are the required 2 ports that supply the switch with data and power. Upsides is you use more pairs of copper increasing available power.
