Keeps smells IN
I purchased this not to keep water out but to keep smells in. I needed something to put full doggie poo bags in until we could get home from our walks. I hate walking around carrying those stinky green bags. This works perfectly! It’s big enough for several piles, keeps the stink in and attaches to the leash handle. All without advertising that I’m carrying a bag of poop. I cannot say if it keeps the contents dry but it looks as if it would withstand a quick dunk or certainly a rainstorm. It is made of a soft plasticky material that folds over at the top. The clip seems sturdy enough. I would trust it to keep my socks dry, but I’d want to test it before I trusted it with my phone on a kayak trip. I would not be surprised if it did keep a phone safe, it does seem air tight with smells anyway

Kept things dry
I have used it for multiple camping and hiking trips. I’ve used it for food to string up on a bear line. I’m currently using it to stuff my sleeping gear in to keep it dry. It works well so far.

Purchase This Immediately
This bag is truly a marvel for the price. I have included many photos next to a tennis ball for a size reference. I purchased the 10 Liter blue bag to use as a food bag and a bear bag while backpacking. It holds more than enough food for a week, is lightweight, waterproof, sturdy, smell-proof, and absolutely gorgeous to look at. I have not had any issues with critters or water while using this to store my food. Surface also seems to repel sand, dirt, and mud. It also has a few spots included in the design that you could attach a buckle or strap if you wish. Speaking of, it includes a 3 foot adjustable strap that is also very sturdy and extremely convenient. No part of this product seems loose or cheaply made. I did not have high expectations of this product based on the price, but it absolutely blew me away. Highly Recommended.

Great Dry Sack. Bear Bag?: Not So Much
We used this as a "tree bag" to keep our foodstuff between two trees to keep it away from animals at night while through hiking. We woke up night two with a Grizzly on its hind legs trying to reach it. It was out of his reach but clearly it isn't "scent proof". If a bear got ahold of it it DEFINITELY wouldn't be bear proof. Bear "bags" these days are made of hard dense plastic and are very resilient (and also very expensive). It definitely worked for us but we very easily could've gotten into a tussle with a Grizzly over our food.
