I use all sorts of beard products, but this, along with a brush is the most important. It has no scent, which I love, because this product's mission is beard health. I use this immediately after the shower to moisten my beard. 2-3 pumps depending on beard length, massage through, then brush. At the end of my post-shower routine, or when I'm closer to leaving the house, only then will I add a balm or wax, or maybe a dash of another oil, for scent. If your beard gets itchy, it's probably dry. This will help a lot.
