I have bought various brands of washable pads. However, I have found the ones with the little silicone dots for grip just basically don't do diddly for keeping the pads in place. So, I thought I'd give this one a try. I tested it by pouring 8 oz. water onto it and it didn't leak. And the backing is different from the ones with the silicone dots. This one is a solid backing which feels smooth until you put it onto another fabric, e.g., couch. Then, it feels a bit grippy. This one is a bit more expensive than others I've tried, but it does seem to be more absorbent and more grippy to better remain in place. I primarily use these to cover the couch for aging pets to lay on and they are great for that purpose.
