The best dry food for ferrets
Some “ferret” kibble on the market is garbage, pure and simple. *cough* marshall *cough* Ferrets are obligate carnivores with short digestive tracts. Your ferret should NOT eat carbs or pea protein. This is the only dry food I feet my ferrets. But it should not be the ONLY food you feed your ferrets. Ferret teeth are designed for shredding meat. Gnawing on hard kibble is not healthy for ferrets. Here’s what I’ve done for years- get warm water. Mix in 2 spoons of Dook Soup from Pampered Ferret (freeze dried raw, 98% meat.) Put this kibble in the warm water so it softens. Note- other ferret kibble will turn to mush because of the high carb content (again, not healthy for your ferrets!) This kibble simply softens, making it easier for your ferrets to eat. I then add Stella & Chewys raw dinner morsels (frozen), about 5 nuggets for 2 ferrets. Let sit for 10 minutes. Stir together. Top with a pinch of salmon oil. Serve. Ferrets imprint on their food. You need to make sure you introduce your ferrets to a variety of raw meats prior to 6 months of age. For kits, I’ll take their treats (utilize treats for potty training), crumble some over their food, and serve so they get used to the taste and associate it with food. Note- a lot of “ferret treats” are garbage too. Get freeze dried RAW chicken, liver, minnows. Your ferret never needs carbs, sugar (which is a carb), veggies, etc in their treats. I specifically get the starch free epigen due to limited ingredients and probiotics. If you bought your ferret from a chain pet store, it’s probably a Marshall ferret. I would switch them over quickly to this kibble and raw food. You want to do this while they are kits. Once their digestive system gets used to the food, you’ll have less poop as more of it is fully utilized by their bodies. At first they may have loose stool, more stool, for this I recommend “Poopin Pumpkin” to bulk up their stools. I use it every 3 weeks or so to prevent intestinal blockages as well, which ferrets are prone to, and those are very expensive to fix. My ferrets readily accepted the kibble and raw food. As for the treats, it’s a work in progress. These ferrets grew up in a pet mill on a poor diet. Patience is key. The price is worth it 10x over. A poor diet and stress can cut your ferret’s life short. Remember, ferrets are expensive animals. Forget the initial $400 per ferret. You need yearly vet exams, then biannual once they hit age 3. You need to invest in proper food and a LARGE cage. Enrichment. Emergencies. Diet is the foundation of health.

Good Quality Food
I order this food for one of my ferrets. The other ferret does not typically enjoy it but my female chows down on this. I did some research before purchasing this food for them and it seemed this was one of the healthier choices. I don't feed them this food alone; I mix it with the marshal ferret food as well as that is the one my male likes. I also feed them Stella & chewy FDR twice a day. I recommend mixing this with other food as I heard this can cause loose stool in ferrets as the ingredients are potent. I ordered this on June 12th and it was delivered by June 17th (5 days), not bad for Amazon nowadays. This is good quality food which I try to feed my ferrets at all times.

Best dry food on the market
This is the only dry ferret food I've found that doesn't contain ingredients that are bad for ferrets. (E.g. grain, fruit, vegetables, etc.)

Remember to do a SLOW transition
I bought this food to mix in my ferrets regular kibble, since I had heard such good things about it. People are NOT kidding when they say to transition this food as slow as possible. I started just by sprinkling a few kibbles in their bowls. Did that for weeks, then finally started making my way to a half and half mixture. I had to keep cutting back a bit and trying again when I saw seedy/liquid poops but I stuck with it and stayed patient. Ferret digestive systems are so unbelievably sensitive. Finally after 4 or so months, we have perfect poops, soft fur, clean teeth and plenty of energy. My oldest ferret is almost 5 and now runs around dooking and playing with her younger brother and the cats. She has so much more life in her now than she did before I fed her this. The tartar on her teeth is almost gone since this food is starch free and very crunchy. It’s truly the best ferret food on the market. My boy is still lazy and fat, but that’s just him :)

Great food but
A little too rich for a few of mine, they had lots of diarrhea even 2 months into feeding it. They love the taste but they were pooping out of control and after researching i learned many recommended mixing with other foods to reduce diarrhea.

My ferrets look and feel better!!
The quality of this food is much much better than the Marshall’s. I have 3 ferrets. Two are 2 and one is 7. My 7 year old is an adopted retired show girl. Ever since we’ve had her we’ve stayed on Marshalls. I’ve always thought she’s been so tiny and really thin hair. No, I think it was the food because no that she’s been on this food for about two months, her hair is soft and full, her body looks full and healthy and she doesn’t seem as itchy as before. I love this food and will be keeping any and all future ferrets on it.

Good quality
We have been buying this food for the past 3 years for our ferret. It’s a complete nutrition for our little ferret Winslow. We mix it with other freeze dried meat and a small amount of supplemental chicken protein now and again. His business never changes, same amount not too runny or too solid. I do mix it with warm water and let it sit 5 min to make it a warm delicious meal for him. He’s a happy fella

Good food means happy cat-sneks!
Our veterinarian recommended the Wysong ferret epigen when we first took our little female ferret in for her post-adoption check-up. Unlike many other ferret "food" on the market, the Wysong isn't filled up with sugars that leave your ferrets hooked with no nutritional value. We blend our Wysong pellets with shredded freeze-dried chicken and then add some warm water to mix it all. Our ferrets are happy, healthy, and as rambunctious as a mischievous carpet rocket could ever hope to be.
