Tefal 20 cm Ingenio Stainless Steel Pasta Insert, Silver

It is an interesting product, especially when doing fresh pasta and there is more one type. A lot can be cooked and the same water could be used for the second lot. It is not something that will be used a lot, unless one is eating pasta everyday. it is not very big, it will work for one or two people, but not for 3 or more.

What a good idea - a drainer that fits neatly inside the pan that you can lift out once you have finished cooking your pasta (or whatever). Designed to fit inside a 20cm tefal ingenio pan, there is a recess down one side that allows you to fit the detachable handle to the pan and the drainer stands a couple of inches proud of the top edge of the pan, (and is nearly an inch wider across the top, so the 20cm pan lid is then too small, but that's obviously not an issue with pasta or rice). Once cooking is finished, you can transfer the ingenio handle to the lip of the drainer and just lift it straight out of the pot, leaving all the cooking water behind. Well made out of a good thickness of stainless steel, and easy to clean, this is already well used in our house

Despite my headline, I did send this back because although I had the Tefal Ingenio 20cm saucepan which it was recommended to use with, I couldn't see how it would work when I received it when I placed it in my pan to test the fit. It was very tight in my pan and I was very doubtfull that if I filled it with water that I would be able to get much water in it to be able to cook the amount of pasta or potatoes that we would want. It's a great design and a great idea but I think it would work in a deeper saucepan than the one I have that is 20cm in width. I have the Tefal stacking pan set and this took up a lot of space even when stacked in the 20cm saucepan. I only have limited space to store pots and pans which is what attracted me to the Tefal Ingenio range. However, with this item, as it wouldn't stack with my other pans because of the amount of height space I had, I didn't really have space elsewhere in the kitchen to store it which might not be a problem for other buyers. I felt that if I kept it, I wouldn't use it much and it would take up valuable space. Also, we are a household of 2, so I can't see how you could use this for more than 2 people.

This sits inside one of my stackable pans and its use is fairly obvious . It saves a lot of messing around with sieves and colanders , just lift drain and serve. Possibly not so good for a large family.

Ideal for pasta making or cooking vegetables. It makes it easier to save the water for use for something else.

i like that this fits perfectly into a pan and now pasta is so much more easily drained than if i was using a colunder

Pasta for 2 works fine, for 3 even if you're not a big eater. A young family of 4 might work but if you want a feed a family of 4 with teenage children then this just isn't big enough. By the time you've got the water high enough to cover 4 adult portions of pasta its boiling over the side and dripping onto the hob. Useful as a colander insert for smaller portions of veg but we've replaced this with a 20cm pasta cooking pan from asda for £18. Shame as we really wanted to stick to the ingenio stackables to save cupboard space. As a result I've given this 3 stars but if you have a hungry family of 4+ its a one star product. If there is only 2 of you or you have very young children that don't eat much then its 4 stars.

I love this pasta strainer that you can cook pasta in pan with only problem is don’t over fill your pan with water and pasta as has a tendency to boil over. Washes well in dishwasher no marks or rust and this is used a lot! Bought to help neurodivergent son learn to cook his own meals and can use detachable handle with it which is great.

Pasta cooker fits perfectly onto my 20 inch stainless pot with detachable handles. So much easier and just switch handle from pot to strainer when ready to strain.

Très pratique. Belle forme. Utile. Bonne idée de pouvoir utiliser les poignets clipsables des casseroles. Dommage qu.elle n'existe pas pour les casseroles en 18 cm.

il prodotto è di buona qualità ma per fare la pasta, con standard italiani, è troppo piccola. l'ho restituita. probabilmente va bene per la pasta scotta senza sale à la française.
