Gets the job done
Update: Was struggling feathering sticks and found the edge to be beveled making the edge not bite to shave off the wood. Re-profiled at 25 degrees and now it is much better. Knife is a great value, just needed a little love. Just to start, this is not the best knife I have ever used, but it is the good knife at this price and does everything I need it to do at a campsite. Feathering wood for fire, sharpening a marshmallow stick, drilling a divot for fire bow, and any other normal camp duty I needed. I dont baton much. Out of the box I needed to do a little sharpening, not a big deal. The sheaths leather feels great but does not hold the knife well, so I'll poke another hole or make a new strap. Not deal breakers just something to note. 1066 steel is strong (used in swords) but is not the best at retaining an edge. Though if you abuse your knife like the youtubers, 1066 is better for you as steel that holds an edge longer, tends to be more brittle. Handle is pinned but the shape is fantastic for my hands. I wear a large cadet golf glove for reference. For the price, this knife is great and something I'm not afraid to use. Very happy with this purchase. Other fixed knives I own for reference. Becker BK2, bk7, bk17, machaxe. All great, BK17 is my favorite for camping. Schrade SCHF36CP (thing is a beast) Ontario 18" machete, Rat-5 - Good knife, just dont love it for some reason. Lionsteel b41, great bushcraft knife, 3x the cost of this one and not 3x better.

5 star knife, 3 star sheath
This is a great knife. The DBK boys and BPS really hit this one out of the park as far as the blade itself is concerned. However, despite being very well made from thick, richly dyed leather, the sheath leaves a lot to be desired. The retention strap does nothing to hold the knife secure in the sheath. As demonstrated in DBK's YouTube video featuring this blade, you can shake the knife right out of the sheath with very little effort. Luckily, this can be easily remedied. The BPS sheath that is available for sale here on Amazon currently for $17, the one that comes with the B1 and the BS2 models, will also fit the DBK knife. It does ride very deep in the sheath so that only about an inch of the tang of the knife is exposed, so I'd recommend a lanyard to help with that, but the B1/BS2 sheath is otherwise snug and fits great. The included firesteel is a nice diameter, throws good sparks, and is put together well. It's a great bit of kit easily worth half the asking price of the entire package. For the fifty dollar price tag, this is a phenomenal value. I'd have rated this item 4 stars if the factory sheath weren't at least functional, but it does work even if it doesn't have good retention so I'm giving it full marks.

Quality knife/ false advertising
It's a BPS, it's rock solid. The only reason I took a star off is because it was advertised as a DBK branded knife/ sheath, but the branding is not on the sheath, a little disappointed for how much I spent.. Other than that the knife is good, comfortable handle, sharp blade, sheath is good just not what was pictured.

Amazing quality for the price!
Bought the first one, the sheath sucked but the knife and fire steel were great. Got this version and the knife and sheath are awesome! Very quality... and the back is still sharp and should strike a fire steel well... not this fire steel tho it sucks. otherwise the package is amazeing.. Im giving it 5 stars because of the value for what you get. replace the fire steel tho. EDIT: apparently you need to scrape off a decent amount of protective coating on the fire steel before you get to the good stuff, and then it strikes very nicely. 10/10

Very impressive budget knife.
Great knife for the price. Very sharp. Sheath is well made. Knife fits the hand perfectly. Has a good weight. I did have to tighten up the handle screws not a big deal.

Not what I expected from BPS
I own several BPS knives, and have been consistently impressed with the quality and value of their knives. I was very excited to learn they had collaborated with the DBK (Dutch Bushcraft Knives) YouTube channel for a new release. I was rather disappointed with the end result. The good: It is a great looking knife, with a rather unique finish on the unground portions of the blade. Fit and finish of the handle scales is, as usual, excellent. It feels very good in the hand, in all kinds of different grips. I can see using it for a long period of time without much hand fatigue. The bad: Unlike most of BPS knives, the blade is left with the grind marks. While this is esthetically pleasing to me, it differs greatly from their mainstay highly polished blades. I think this contributed to my biggest complaint: The blade was very dull out of the box. Most of their blades come razor sharp. It took me quite a while on stones and a strop to achieve a decent edge. The second complaint, which has been mentioned quite often, is the fit of the sheath. It is, to put it nicely, poor. The sheath itself is nicely made, with thick leather and good stitching, but it does not fit the knife. The knife fits very loosely in the sheath, and the "retention strap" is useless. You can turn the sheath upside down and the knife just falls out. Overall, I think this could be a great knife. BPS just needs to work on some details, namely the sharpness and the sheath. If you're willing to put in some work, it is still a very good knife. *edit* BPS contacted me about my concerns. They have assured me that these issues are being addressed for future runs of this knife. I very much appreciate they took the time to write me. They are listening to their customers.

BPS Knives Bushmate - best value knife for $50? Yes!
The BPS Bushcraft knife was as described in the listing, and in the DBK you-tube review. For the price, this is the best working knife around. The blade is sharp out of the box. A couple of minutes on a strop and it was slicing paper. The handle is ok. It isn't a Bark River handle, but the knife is also a fraction of the price. So, in reference to the price, it is a high quality, functional handle. The sheath is ok. The leather is high quality. The retaining strap is decorative as it does not retain the knife. The knife can be pulled out of the sheath with the retaining strap closed. Again, for the price, this is not a complaint, merely an observation. This is a very functional, usable survival/bushcraft knife. This is a knife that can be used, and used hard. The 1066 steel probably is prone to rust if not properly cared for. However, the steel is easy to sharpen. Overall, I would buy again from BPS and am glad to have learned about their products.

Great value, I mean 40 bucks!
The first thing I noticed was the Scandi grind on the blade, very sharp, and the grip size of the handle, fit in my XXL hands. The scales were made of a tight grained wood and had no flaws. The ferro rods handle was made from the same wood and had a very tight fitting tube on the leather sheath. The dangler style sheath is very well made, no loose stitches. I added a lanyard to the knife and rod for ease of deployment. I put mink oil on the sheath for long term protection. I would highly recommend this lightweight knife combo!
