Great quality
Excellent! I use scissors to cut it into small flakes and add it to soup and eggs and I even tried chewing it. Quite good with no fishy taste, but it did mildly taste like seaweed, go figure. I found the taste to be excellent. I found no shells or sand in the bag. By the way these were strips of seaweed not flakes. Perhaps the other types of seaweed the company sells comes in flakes. I haven't tried them yet. The bag came sealed with no holes or leakage. I paid for this, it is my opinion there was no compensation.

Like a tasty vegan version of jerky
I was not so sure about this stuff, never having heard of "laver" (though I'd had the sheets of crispy green nori lots of times before), and have been pleasantly blown away by it on several levels. 1), the taste; it's like the smell of the sea, a bit salty and mineral-y and if you like that seaweed smell, you will be pleased with this stuff, though its not as strong as some kelps or some of the seaweed I've had from Korea. 2) texture; it's kind of like chewing on a piece of tough jerky, but one that tastes like the sea. The pieces are not as thick as kelp (think more like a frondy leaf of butterleaf lettuce). I find that they chew up more easily than the thicker kinds out there. 3) the color; dry, it just looks like a mass of dry crunchy dark-colored vegetation. Wet it, though, and you see that it's a beautiful jewel-tone purple. 4) the surprising one for me, the energy: I get shaky if I get too hungry. Chomping on this stuff holds that off. Lastly, of all the packages I've eaten of this stuff, I have only had crunchy "shell-like" things once (they were stuck-on barnacles, tiny; no more than about 4 millimeters wide; there were three in that bag on two different fronds. This granola-esque Alaskan crunched them up and ate 'em. No taste. The texture was akin to eating canned salmon (or perhaps herring or sardines) with the bones still in; somewhat crunchy, but oddly nice in their chalky calcium goodness. =]

Easy way to add seaweed to your diet
I sprinkle these seaweed flakes on top of my salad instead of adding salt. The taste is very mild for someone who doesn’t like seaweed by itself. It frankly is hard to notice that I had added anything healthy, which is perfect. Does get stuck in teeth and will require a rinse afterwards. I also read that this brand tests it’s seaweed/dulse for heavy metals. Would highly recommend.

Taste great but shell bits hurt teeth.
Tastes great on salads, nice and salty sea weed flavor. The only problem was all the sea shell pieces I had in my bag of flakes. At first I thought it was just dirt from the lettuce so I washed my lettuce and herbs like crazy to make sure and I was still getting hard dirt like pieces. So after almost chipping a tooth I was able to take the piece out and it looks identical to a shell (shiny on one side, dark on the other). So I then realized that I only had this issue this past week when I added the dulse flakes to my salad. Unfortunately I added to a smoothie the first 2 times I used this so that means I just drank the shell bits without knowing. So, I then looked at the bag and was able to see small shell bits through the clear bag even (the lighter piece in the photo). I wish there was a disclaimer on the bag about "this may contain shell pieces" so I had a heads up. Argh, at least this is affordable. I'm going to try the sheets next time. :/ UPDATED: 7/5/16 Updated from 2 to 4 stars. My second bag of flakes was much better. Hardly any shell bits compared to the last bag and none that hurt or chipped any teeth. I love these, just have to be careful for any shell bits or pebbles because I did chip a tooth from my first bag. I do now see the disclaimer on the back of the bag at the end of the first paragraph. I still don't see one on the Amazon page for the small Flakes, but I did on the page for the larger pieces.

Good for Iron deficiency !
First time buying seaweed. It's really not for me. I infused this in boiling water ,let it cone to room temp. then refrigerate over night. The next morning strained the seaweed out and drank a cup a day For the health benefits such as high in Iron. I recomend for that reason (if you like ocean flavor)

Bad Product
I received my Organic Sugar Kelp Whole Leaf (Saccharina latissima) - "Wild Atlantic Kombu" - Wild-Harvested Sea Vegetable sold by RST Deals Upon receving my order I found the seaweed to be very moist and sour to taste.. It was not throughly air dried out. Never again will I buy from RST Deals, as there is no returns available. A word to the wise. I reached out to Maine Sea Coast about RST Deals, let see if they do the wright thing and send me another complimentry for my experience with there product

I love the taste of these dulse flakes. I have just started using this to help me to detox from heavy metals and I thought it would be a chore to take every day but it is superb on salads and fish as it really enhances the flavour. Also, being flakes it seems easy to digest.

Great stuff. I make a sprinkle with it along with nutritional yeast, ground Brazil nuts (for selenium), ground flax (for O3), toasted wheat germs (for a whole lot of vitamins and minerals) that I had to salads. It’s nutritious, delicious and also a good as a replacement for salt.
