I am so impressed by this security camera set, I really want to ensure I do it justice so may continue to update this review as I go. The box is smart and everything was packaged really well. The camera comes with thorough installation instructions, drill some holes and the cameras click in and that's it with the physical bit.. just ensure you charge fully before putting in place. Next you'll need to download the app and sync the cameras with your wifi/phone. You'll need to create an account at this point, this is where you can upgrade to subscription if you want to but its definitely not needed. I'll add the pricing options in my video. You get 3 months subscription free. That's it, no reciever hub.. just the cameras and your phone. You can have more than 1 phone with access and to receive notifications. Once you've done the above you can set the area you want to activate the camera and notifications for. I live in a London terrace where the door is directly on the street with a primary school at the end so as you can imagine being able to set a boundary is invaluable! To be honest it was these reasons what had put me off getting a camera before I discovered Arlo. The notifications are good too, how it differentiates between a person, animal, motion, package and even when package has been taken away... its so clever!! I should add you can view live anytime by opening the app and selecting the camera you want to view. The notification is instant and I can speak clearly to the caller or delivery driver if I'm not able to get to the door and they can speak back. There's also a siren option to deter possible intruders or unwanted visitors! The footage is clear in both day and night, can be saved and/or downloaded as needed.

Cameras themselves are decent pieces of kit with good battery life and video quality. Service however has steadily gone downhill over last few years. UX in the "new" app is clunky with no easy way to manage multiple clips. Geofencing doesn't seem to work reliably and the removal of custom modes makes camera control much less flexible. "Smart detection" is also poor, frequently misclassifying activity (e.g. mistaking my neighbour's cats as people) Even just activating devices is flakey and a particular pain on dual or tri-band networks (e.g. 2.4GHZ + 5GHZ + 6 GHZ). You have to disable all except the 2.4GHZ band until after activation despite claiming to support both 2.4/5GHZ bands. Final straw was the enforcement of "fair usage" even on the top tier price subscription plan with no option to pay for additional data. Support are unresponsive but send nagging emails to reduce recording activity (i.e. the entire point of security cameras), threatening to terminate your subscription whilst pushing you towards the so-called "Continuous Video Recording". This would be fine even with the significantly increased cost except it can only be used with mains powered cameras (meaning I can't use it for my outdoor cameras - app prevents you from even purchasing if it is not detected) and also does not the provide the desired functionality (recording on activity rather than continuously). Now wholesale replacing my 11 x Arlo 5 Pro cameras with Reolink for 1/4 the price, more/better features (e.g. PTZ, working AI detection, etc), much better app and no subscription costs due to local storage

This is a fantastic product. We were paying high maintenance charges for an old-fashioned burglar alarm which kept giving false alarms when spiders set off the detectors at night. But we were genuinely concerned whether the Arlo cameras would be an adequate replacement, whether we would be able to fit the Arlo cameras to external brick walls ourselves and whether they would work at all with a larger property with very slow and weak WiFi. We need not have worried as everything turned out to be easy and to work well. We love everything about this product especially the geofencing feature which arms all the cameras automatically when we move away from the property and we have set them to come on overnight too. We have the cameras set to detect people and animals and we love checking every morning to see what animals have been detected overnight, mostly foxes and cats in our area so far! One area where Arlo could still improve though is in giving more advice about how high to mount their cameras and how to point them as we had to learn this ourselves by trial and error. This was particularly the case with a camera at the front of the property where it was quite tricky to get it to detect movement in the front of the property but without it being triggered constantly by people or vehicles walking or moving on a public road nearby. We also have hard bricks which are difficult to drill into but it turned out the solution was to drill into the softer mortar between the bricks instead. Some simple videos to advise on such issues would have helped a lot. We also hope that Arlo keep maintaining these products on the market by providing security updates for many years into the future, they owe this to their customers. However we repeat that this is an amazing product and the relatively high initial cost is easily justified by the ease of diy installation, the amazing performance, the very good app and the relatively low monthly cost of monthly cloud storage and we are very happy with our Arlo doorbell and cameras.

Firstly I'll start with the negatives as there are so little. Let's get the price out of the way, it is a lot of money but you are definitely getting what you pay for! Signal quality on live stream was hit and miss compared to the 4k camera I have but this camera is further away, some weird green glitching when viewing live stream about 1 in 5 times but recording was still clear without glitches or cutouts. Now that's out of the way these cameras are amazing, the picture quality is better than any camera I've used before and I have used loads, I currently run 3 cameras around the house and this Arlo system is the easiest and quickest to set up. In the video you will see the initial set up of the additional base station I own and the ultra 4k camera along with this 2k pro camera in the garden as I have a complete set for reference. The whole AI smart stuff works extremely well, I had the garden set to people and animal but disabled movement, the washing blowing on the washing line never set off the alerts but as soon as the dog came out I had an animated alert sent straight to my phones notification panel. You can configure areas of interest, sensitivity, what to do on detection (lights, alarms). I love the night vision, not only is the infra-red crystal clear but when sensing a person the lights come on and the camera records in full colour! The lens can go to an ultra-wide setting which is pretty much 180° without much distortion and the picture quality is amazing. Everything is compatible with my Google home and I can view all my cameras in the kitchen and on the lounge TV. 2way voice works much better than I expected as it opens a true 2way channel where both people can talk at the same time without feedback. Battery life seems good, I wouldn't think it's 1 years worth due to the amount of alerts I get but in 1 week the battery lost 5% charge which is amazing and charging is done with the magnetic charger so I can charge from a power bank if I don't want to take the battery out. Since configuring and using for over a week I have had no false alerts and I've been so impressed I've been showing the guys in work who are now looking at getting one. Overall a very expensive but very good security system with so many features you could spend all day getting it perfect. If you have something of value and you need cameras which are easy to set up and give you great recording and a great experience then these are well worth it!

Great value for money and very clear images

If you are a Versiure customer, don't buy Arlo camera yourself because you are not able to purchase an Arlo subscription unless you create a new Arlo account. Moreover, it's so frustrucated to get support from Arlo because they only provide a chat bot if you don't register your product in a valid Arlo account (non-Verisure) or own a subscription. Arlo support does recommend that I can create a new Arlo account, assign the camera and purchase the subsctiption there. Then I can share the camera to the original Verisure account. However, I decided to return the camera to Amazon after hours of frustration. This company doesn't deserved me spending a pence on it!

This Arlo Pro4XL is probably one of the sharpest and most responsive cameras that I have come across. I have not received any false alerts and the interface is relatively intuitive yet offers you a lot of control with zones. There are many positives to this camera system and the fact that Arlo claims that this camera can run for a year on one charge is probably far-fetched considering the number of alerts I get. Also, the nighttime colour recording must consume a considerable amount of juice, since the night shots are that good. Despite this, the camera is still probably class-leading in terms of battery power and ultimately you will not be disappointed. However, there is a glaring negative that irks me. And that is the charging of the batteries. As a 3-set camera, you only get one charging cable that is waterproof and magnetic. But you can release the battery and charge it, you’ll need to keep the battery and the camera within the case so that the magnetic points connect and charge the camera. What’s wrong with that you might ask. Well, it’s really inconvenient, you’ll either use a very long extension cable to reach the camera and charge it or you’ll need to dismount the casing from the wall mount and charge it. This is require you to reposition the camera every time you need to charge the battery. Not only that, this 3-set camera only comes with ONE charger! Why can’t you release the battery and charge it independently or better still, have a charger that can charge 3 sets of battery all at once. Arlo already changes an arm and leg for this otherwise brilliantt
