Works great and came fast!

When you buy a house, they should hand you the keys AND ONE OF THESE WRENCHES. For some reason, many water meters (usually found in your front yard, looks like a dinner plate if you have stamped iron dinner plates) have a locking bolt that is 5 sided. I’m not kidding. So all the standard, works on everything else hex (6 sided) sockets you have don’t work to get the water meter open. When do you ever need to open the water meter and shut off water to your house? In one of those middle of the night, hair on fire and wife yelling at you type emergencies of a water leak (b/w meter and house) or house water shutoff not working type events. So this wrench is 5 sided and opens the meter cover in your yard. Pro tip— just a 1/8 or so turn is needed to open the meter, it turns an old school locking cog device, and the patent for this surely expired in the McKinley administration. It’s not a typical multiple turn bolt.

Would be better if you could get more leverage. Hard to use on seized bolts.

Well made and works as expected. I like having the ability to shut off water at the street. It is legal in my community to do this. You cannot remove a lock and turn the water back on. I had to replace my main leaking gate valve with fully ported ball valve.

Solidly built. HOWEVER, the opening for the nut measures 15/16 inches from base of pentagon to opposite point. Some water meter covers are this size. Not mine. This confusion is the fault of the listing, which forced me to return it. Other pentagonal keys (like mine) are 17/16 inches from base to point and can only be opened with the very expensive REED key and optional/important wrench extender.SO… before ordering this, measure the actual size of the pentagonal cover nut, from base to point, to make sure it fits!

It helped me get the cover off my water shutoff valve. I needed my pipe wrench to use it. The screw was too difficult to loosen with my hand.
