Crucial BX500 500GB SATA LLL 2.5" SSD

I buy enclosures and make my own external hard drives. This one worked great, has 500 GB of storage and is fast. I later used it in an older iMac to replace the Fusion Drive and extended the life of a computer I was taking apart to throw away.

I purchased this to replace the original HDD in my 2012 Mac Mini, and it worked perfectly. The speed is great, and has great performance for Windows via Bootcamp. Installation was easy, my only complaint is that the drive wobbles a bit when placed without a spacer internally.

This Crucial SATA SSD is lightning fast and even faster than the Crucial drives I bought five years ago. I've been buying Crucial drives for a while, tried others, and keep coming back to this brand. Tried Tikwot NVMI 4 TB SSD, a sorry expensive piece of junk that their engineers can't even design a usable heatsink to fit it!

Crucial SSDs perform well and represent good value for the money. However, I am taking off one star because the free Acronis imaging solution is so atrociously slow it's comical. Samsung's imaging solution does not have this problem, so if you are migrating from a traditional hard drive to an SSD, you would be wise to pay a few more dollars and go with a Samsung SSD.

This was the 3rd Crucial SSD that I have cloned & installed in the last 5 years. The cloning software works great & the SSD was ready to install in less than 2 hrs.

These crucial drives are fantastic. The included Acronus True image software works flawlessly to easily clone a drive you may be replacing and the performance gain is incredible. Don’t think twice about getting these drives I also have 2 1tb mx500 drives and they are even a little faster than a the BX500z love these drives and the increased Acronus is software.

Have bought several of these now-about 8. No problems and am quite happy with them.

This SSD hard drive is perfect for my security cameras! It’s fast, reliable, and handles continuous recording without any issues. Easy to set up and has plenty of storage space. Highly recommend for surveillance systems!

Perfekt

Have been using Crucial for a very long time, both for their excellent memory modules and their SSD's. Don't think I've ever had a Crucial RAM stick failure ... maybe one or two? They are reliable, and are always in the frame for all of my RAM purchases, along with Samsung, Micron, Kingston - any manufacturer who offers lifetime warranty on their RAM is someone you should be buying from. The BX500 is a great budget SSD choice, where you want your money to favour storage capacity. 3 year as opposed to the MX500 which has a 5 year warranty, but in this case, the BX500 is the better choice as it is for a seldom used laptop that needs that performance boost from the 5400rpm hard drive that is really struggling now after all those updates have burdened the operating system with. The performance is not too far off the MX500 as the underpinnings are mostly the same. MX is definitely better, but BX is better here and that's what the BX range was made for.
