We couldn’t open oysters with this device. It looks well made but we just couldn’t get it to work. We tried tried several different oysters..

It's easier to do by hand and you won't lose all the precious juice due to opening it 'vertically' vs horizontally in the palm of your hand.Need to clamp it down to the counter becasuse it tilts over too easily.Materials are decent.

This thing is horrible, it will take FOREVER to open an oyster that becomes FULL of shells. Easier and cleaner oysters are with a hand shucker...

Was hoping this would ease the task of opening oysters and other shellfish. Unfortunately it's not as easy and efficient as hoped. It does work, but is very finicky and messy. Maybe it's technique, and I'll improve after use, but it's a rather simple concept and just don't think it's all that useful. Also, only part of the unit is stainless steel. The base is some soft metal (appears aluminum) and gouges very easily with each use
