Fantastic Golf Ball
Used one my new Cavell X golf balls today for the fist time. Bought a dozen after seeing a good review on YouTube, but was a bit of a punt as I'd not heard of them before.Shot my best ever round. Amazing!Good for distance, goes straighter, and great feel around the greens.Seems to be as good as branded premium balls I've tried in the past, and at a significantly lower price. My new favourite ball....

Fair price for a good ball!
I bought these out of curiosity, I normally play a Pro V1 (I like to see a lower flight), and my driver swing speed averages anywhere between 104 and 110, 4hcp. I played a practice round with this, and a ProV1x for a comparison.I picked the X based on suggested swing speed. It’s 102 compression so pretty firm and slightly higher than a ProV1x.Driver: Its comparable to a Titleist Velocity in terms of feel off the driver. Quite stoney, and ‘ting-y’ which I’d say puts its feel similar to a Cheaper distance style ball. The ProV1x comes out a bit hotter and a bit higher and you can work it, this ball not so much. It’s about 10 yards shorter off the tee, but less spin-y than say a TP5x which I often find balloons, so it performed well (sound and feel more of a personal preference). £25 more per dozen effectively buys you 10 yards and some workability.Irons: it again feels quite click-y off the face, but there is a little workability. What I would say is that it only loses about 5 yards on each iron and does hold the green. A slightly lower ball flight than the ProV1X and you can’t get that rip back like you can with a flighted shot (appreciate not everyone needs/wants to do that).Wedges: like the irons, there’s a little distance lost, but it does have some good spin compared to a cheaper distance ball and you get some pull back with full shots so you can go past a flag and come back to a hole. From green side you can put in some low checking shots, and it’s got some good playability. Again, not as much as a ProV1x, but enough for what most people are trying to do.Putter: I actually preferred the feel of this off the putter, and the acoustics. Which I was most surprised about. For a firm ball off the tee, it actually has quite a nice soft feel off the putter. As you’d expect, durability isn’t as good as a ProV1/x (pics showing some wear and tear after taking these balls through their paces), but I got 9 holes out of one and also put it into a few bunkers and played around with full wedges - and I’d probably still bring it out in a practice round so there’s life in it still. So I think it would work out cheaper in the long run (there’s a false economy on some of these D2C balls where they’re half the price, but because of durability you end up going through 3 balls to one premium). On the whole, it’s really good for the money. I don’t think they’re trying to directly compete with the Tour Balls, but what it does have is a good price with the spin characteristics you just don’t get with other cheaper balls in its price bracket. If it was a competition or something on the line would I play it? Probably not for me as I’d want that consistency, workability, and accessibility the premium balls give. But if I’m losing too many balls a round or I’m practicing, I may just have a sleeve or two of these lying around.EDIT: took same set of three balls out for another practice. (So probably didn’t hit the same ball off each tee). There was a bit of wind and I noticed two key things I didn’t in the first outing. First - ball degradation. The overall performance degraded very quickly into the second 9. Loss of distance over premium ball. The one ProV1x is still in the bag and will likely get another 18 (I hit every shot with one ball both sets of 9 and likely interchanged Cavells as I threw a few extra balls down on some holes to test all aspects so likely some switch over). The three Cavells will get sent down the range tonight as I’ve lost about 20 off tee and 10 off irons from all 3. Second, these get bullied by the wind. Two almost identical swings and contacts (as close as I could get em), whilst ProV1x traveled and hit right edge of fairway, Cavell ballooned and exited stage left in trees a full 80yrds short of ProV1x.So the economics for someone consistent is 3 Cavells to 1 ProV1x if you’re not losing them.I plan to try the other model (the softer one) to see how that stands up to a ProV1.

High end Ball at low end price
I was recommended a Titelist Pro V X on a recent golf trip. I loved the balls and they suited my game. Scores started to come down but as we all know, when you start to lose them you start to think about the cost. So…..on losing my last Pro V into the thick rough a couple of rounds ago I thought about looking for an alternative. A ball that would give me the same distance and same control and still keep me on the path of dropping my H/C so I came across the CG X ball. I took a punt and wow ! Seriously give these balls a try. Me personally , I am seeing longer distance off the tee and more control on shots into the green . Definitely my balling choice now. Try them, I think they will surprise you. Happy golfing people

Premium golf ball. Competes with PROV1 for a fraction of the cost.
I’m a 5 handicap and used premium balls for years. Personal preference is prov1 or zstar or chrome soft. This Cavell ball compete with these for sure. Similar distance off the tee. Actually felt like I had a straighter ball flight that some of the other balls. Extremely soft feel around the greens with plenty of spin from full wedge shots. Also what is something I found that was majorly different was the durability. I played one ball for 18 holes and not a mark on it. Couldn’t believe it. Great ball. High quality. Won’t be disappointed.

Budget price, good performance
From the off, the ball has a stable flight and decent distance, although slightly shorter than an AVX/PRO V1. So far, durability is good and I got lots of backspin on soft greens. Great ball fro the winter when plugged balls are very hard to find; at £2.20 each, its not such a blow.
