So much fun! I got this for my son and we had so much fun breaking them open. He is 10 and I wasn’t sure if he would enjoy this as he is obsessed with his tablet, but we were playing for over an hour! We would break open, look at them, and I would explain to him how they form, what they are, and as many facts that I knew about geodes. Now, we bring a few pieces everywhere because he loves giving random people the pieces and everyone gets excited when he does it. I don’t have a place for all of them so it’s perfect. We got the 20 pack and 3 were duds but that’s okay! I think at least one was a solid crystal that could have been put into a large rock polisher if I had one. Great for all ages as well as educational. It is a bit messy, but come on, they are rocks. You can’t expect smashing rocks to be clean. The outside of the rocks are dusty but you know why? It’s dirt! Dirt and rocks go hand in hand. Anyway, we had so much fun and now I have even more crystal’s around my house and so many more we will give away as the days go on. Also, they are GORGEOUS. When I say the insides twinkle, they look fake because they are so gorgeous!!! I’ve seen geodes that didn’t sparkle even half as much, and I know this could vary between rocks, but wherever these are sourced from seem to provide very good specimens. And for the price? Amazing value! It would be great, however, if there were even just a single page fun fact sheet because I’m sure many people don’t know much about rocks/crystals. Even a QR code to a fact page would be cool!

Great for our class! The count of 20 was accurate, and only one geode arrived broken, and they were pretty consistent in size with a few larger. One was really hard to break! They all were nice and hollow with an even distribution of small crystals. I'd order these again for another class! (Cheaper than the last time I needed to order a class set!)

I haven't opened everything yet, but the ones I've cracked open have been easy to do so with, and most of them have been clear, nice and hollow. The one I recently opened had more cloudy, dull crystals, and was slightly harder to open, but it was beautiful nonetheless. I hope they will continue to be easy to open and be hollow with clean and clear crystals, but considering most of them have been perfect so far, I'll consider it a well worth purchase!

I was worried that these geodes would be solid with no hollow space. All of them were hollow and split easily. There were crystals inside. Most important, my grandson liked it. I was a little disappointed that there were no colors.

My son had a great time with the jumbo geodes we bought him for his birthday. One of the two certainly was jumbo! I couldn’t believe how big it was! I expected them both to be the size of the smaller one, but the bigger of the two was at least 6 inches long. Both geodes were easy enough to break open (my 10 year old needed a little help, but easy for an adult). We used a small crow bar as a chisel and a heavy hammer that didn’t have a wood handle. Both geodes were filled with beautiful white crystal structures.

I bought these particular geodes because I wanted to hide a couple inside plastic Easter eggs this year and introduce my young granddaughter to a bit of geology via crystals. I did read descriptions and reviews for many different geode sets on Amazon before deciding on this particular set with high hopes--but I also knew from experience with buying geodes in shops that the ratio is usually a very few really open crystal-filled geodes to many more with solid interiors/limited if any crystal formation. So...I only hid 4 geodes inside of the plastic eggs, one of which was the only geode in the whole set that arrived slightly cracked and that was a good thing because I could already see some crystal formation inside (so at least 1 would have crystals). Imagine MY surprise when it turned out that ALL 4 of the geodes broke open full of crystals, all 4 of them having open-space crystal-lined interiors and 2 of them actually cracked open into amazingly neat half-domes (I used a small short hammer sold on Amazon, heavy-head & sturdy grip, useful for small spaces: placed the geodes on patio pavemnt and we gave each geode a few steady taps and then a heavier hit or two). 100% success and i was as amazed as my granddaughter was! I'll be saving the rest of the geodes for future activity but I now have very high hopes for the rest because the 4 geodes that I chose for Easter use were the 4 SMALLEST of the whole set (about 1 1/2 inches) so that they fit easily inside the larger plastic eggs and weren't too heavy/they were light enough that the plastic egg stayed closed even when rolling around in her basket as she collected other eggs). I couldn't be happier with this set and highly recommend.

Decent geodes, nice size,1 out of 2 jumbo size geodes were broken. The package was in perfect condition, there was just not enough packing material to keep them safe in transit. My son really wanted to open the other one so I just am going to live with the one that showed up in pieces and let him have the whole one to crack open. Overall, I dont think I would buy these again... but if they showed up whole I may feel differently. If you get whole ones, they would be worth the money. You just never know what you are going to get.

These were really great considering the price, they were larger than a grapefruit, extremely hollow, and the crystal formation inside was really beautiful. We did cut these with a diamond cutting wheel, and I would not recommend trying to break these by hand with a hammer. After this experience, we will most likely buy more.
