Comparison of multiple IS bins - these are the cost/weight/size/IS/IQ winner
Exceptional. I was going to make a youtube comparison, but I'm too lazy. I've heavily researched these and ended up with three pairs - these, the new Fujinon 16x40s and the new and hard-to-find Japanese bins, the Vixen 16x50. After a week of ABC testing, I came up with the following conclusions: the Vixen are the brighest, as they should be, given the 50mm opening. They're also reasonably close to the Sig's in form factor, despite being larger and heavier. The Fuji's are just a wash - larger and heavier and no easier to use, plus stabilization is not that great. The Vixen's stabilization is good, but honestly, I just keep returning to the Sigs. Are they perfect? No. They have some black spots. They're not super bright. The color on the others may be a smidge better. But honestly, I kept hoping that for a little more size and weight, and a few hundred dollars more, I would find something that would be a BIG jump in quality over the Sigs, and I can now say I don't think this exists, as of Nov 2025. The Canons are ancient, stablization is poor, and they're huge and heavy. The new Pro Sigs are big and heavy, and the quality isn't much improved. The Fuji's and the Vixen's are both bigger and heavier, and while they might have a smigeon of better image quality, in the field, I really can't see it making any difference. What DOES make a HUGE difference is the INSANE size and weight of these Sig 16x40s! They are literally about the size and weight of my old 8x42s, except they're TWICE the reach, and STABILIZED. This is insane. I'm literally selling my gorgeous workhorse of an 8x42, because I can't take the wobble anymore. Yes, if you happen to have REALLY steady hands, you can get a nice 8x42 for 1/3 the price of these that will do a good job for close things. But who really needs bins for close things? These are a dream. If you're thinking about the Pro version, for $500 more, then consider the Vixens. They may be better and cheaper. I'd forget the Fuji's. The stabilization is not as good as it should be, and the glass is not as good as it could be. I'm sure in the future, the big players will eventually bring stabilization to everything, since it is a gamechanger, but expect prices and size/weight to skyrocket. I would MUCH rather have these 16x42IS bins than a $3000 8x40 non-IS for most cases.

A must for wildlife viewing
Why did you pick this product vs others?: These are very expensive but definitely worth it if you are needing a great pair of binoculars. They are bult to last and can be tossed around a bit without worry. I live by a national park and use these frequently to see wildlife. People are very impressed when I let them use them. Functionality: I frequently have trouble when I first use these and have to play around a bit but once you are dialed in, they are phenomenal. They really stop the shaking in your hands so you can see wildlife easily. I do recommend them. I believe they will last forever.

Game changer
If you’re thinking about getting some stabilizing binoculars, these are the ones. Total game changer for hunting. We used these on a buck hunt and a bull hunt and it made the difficult task of spotting antlers way easier. Image comes through nice and bright with no shakiness. One thing we did discover was that when we used walkie-talkies near them, the stabilizing feature would shut off. Not sure exactly what the deal with that is but not a problem to turn them back on.

Image Stabilizer is game-changing. Never going back to regular binoculars
If you, like me, suffer from motion sickness and are tired of seeing blurry images of cool objects/animals; buy these. I used these on my recent trip to Alaska, and was able to spot wildlife from moving vehicles and boats. Image is very crisp and the 2 stabilizer modes are very very very very helpful. The binos are small in size, fit in one hand easily, super lightweight and easy to carry on a hike. Other binos in this price range perform better when it comes to stargazing (i.e. this model is pricier than it's counterparts in the same spec range). For a similar price point, you could get higher mag and aperture which would be better for stargazing. But at that point, you're better off buying a starter telescope. My advice - go for these for hiking, beginner-intermediate level birdwatching, wildlife spotting, etc. I personally don't like the company that manufactures these, and the primary purpose for which these are made. All that does not take away from the fact that it is a great product.

So stable. Good clarity. Worth every penny.
I don’t know how I lived without these for so long! Seriously though, these are soooo nice. Stabilizing is unreal. I use for range instruction. Tiny holes at distance can be hard to spot, let alone count. These eliminate that issue. It’s damn near like looking at a zoomed in photograph when spotting targets. To my surprise, they also work well for stargazing. Jupiters moons are so much easier to see without normal binoculars wobble.

Awesome performance
I have Canon IS binoculars from 20 years ago which have served me very well. But I wanted something more robust and modern and these certainly fit the bill. The regular stabilization mode is equivalent to the Canon and the ultra stable mode is like being tripod-mounted. It is that good. The glass is very good, if not Swaro-grade, and did fine looking into bright light. I love the compact form factor and easy handling. This is a great choice for a stabilized binocular.

Note 1 für Freihändiges führen Note 2 für Nacht/abenddämmerung.

I have some Canon 10x20 stabilised binoculars but always wanted more magnification. Decided to go for these and am so pleased I did. The weight, handling and general feel of these binoculars is incredible. The extra stabilisation when in Target mode is amazing and far superior to the Canon which I had thought could not be improved on. They are an expensive purchase but the quality and performance completely justifies the price in my opinion. It’s great to have a product that when you first take out of the box is a pleasure to own even before you use it. If you are considering these, don’t hesitate just push that button.

These are excellent binoculars. I had to ask a colleague about the brand Sig Sauer, as I was completely unfamiliar with it. They advised me that they manufacture and market weapons and are some of the finest examples that you can find and rest assured whatever they offered would be a very good quality. I was looking for something more powerful than my current Canon image stabilising binoculars (12 x36) and wanted to move up to 20 times magnification. It's important to recognise that the function for these binoculars is that of a specific application which is perhaps target shooting, hunting, target checking. My only experience with full bore rifles is a in a Royal Air Force uniform on a 400 yard range using the old SLR rifle in the late 70s. These binoculars would be absolutely ideal for the application as they are powerful and study and have a focused field of view. If you want to use these four that type of application then they are ideal and I would recommend them without hesitation and give them five stars. My first use I was able to zoom in on bees collecting nectar and they were solid and reassuring with the look and feel however the field of vision was narrow which is not surprising as they are very well made light and compact and only use 1 battery. The switch for the image stabilisation is stiff and reassuring, the focus adjustment again was businesslike and well made the general appearance of the unit is good and manufactured in a colour that would be stealthy in undergrowth and in particular hunting situations. The application that I required them for was less specific and required a much wider field of vision. For example tracking high flying aircraft at 35,000 feet took some doing, to acquire the target this is due to the high power and compact field of view. However, once acquired the level of detail is impeccable. They are manufactured by a very good highly recommended manufacturer of weaponry and as such are specifically focused on a small field of view, perhaps target verification to score or verify the point where the target is struck. The requirement I have is less specific and more generic and this is the only reason they lost one star. Exceptionally well made, good value for money, But rather suited to the specific task; my need was to expand on the star gazing capabilities of the Canon units. But these offer a powerful alternative.

About 15 years ago I bought my first IS binoculars. They were Canon 8x and the stabilisation was amazing. It still is. I subsequently bought some Canon 18x50 and was underwhelmed by the stabilisation. These however are a revelation. I was worried i might be throwing my money away. They make the image really steady and are now far in advance of the large Canons. Thoroughly recommend.
