Fantastic Denon AV amp
Been looking for a new AV amplifier for a while now then found this Denon on Amazon for a good price.since updating my TV I needed a amp with all the HDR outputs as well as the latest Dolby sound settings.once I set up the system which was Very easy to do with the on screen menu's and a few tweaks to the sound it as been a fantastic home cinema experience with good sound quality also the network side of the amp was easy to setup too one of the best feature is you can plug all of your HDMI cables in to the back of the amp so you don't have cables running from your sources to your TV. To anyone thinking of buying this amp go for it you won't be disappointed.

Unbelievable value
This is truly brilliant value for money. Got this to replace a 15 year old Onkyo AVR which couldn’t handle 4K. These are my thoughts: -You get a *lot* for your money. 7.2 channels, 8K compatibility, loads of inputs and outputs, and it easily just swapped into position with my existing kit. -Effects are processed brilliantly. Surround sound is absolutely top notch. -Setup is easy with the included mic and cardboard stand if you don’t have a tripod. -Voice is really muted after the initial setup. I had to increase the centre speaker volume by +4, otherwise voices get lost amongst the background sounds. The ‘voice enhancement’ option helps a little bit but not enough. Pleasingly, it remembers the separate settings for each channel on each input. -Music sounded better on the Onkyo. You can change the equaliser on this, but it’s a bit awkward- after the Audyssey setup the mids are a bit lacking and the treble is a bit tinny. -on screen interface is excellent. -the Bluetooth and streaming service integration is great. There are about 3 companion apps which it says to download which are all a bit rubbish. Overall, this has been a good upgrade and it’s the cheapest AVR with this spec by a country mile. The quality of the finish and packing is excellent and feels premium with no hint of being a budget option. Only reason it loses a star is because it needs a bit of fettling to get it sounding it’s best after setup, especially with voices and music.

Not nearly as good as I'd expected
If I could afford to just park this device and spend the money all over again (and I bought this thing at near full price, which is an additional hurt, given its current heavily discounted price), on another AVR, I'd do just that. I may be the wrong age demographic for these techy things - but I've worked with techy things my whole adult life, and have wide experience of home entertainment devices. And this one is my least favourite purchase to date - by a long way. Setting it up was a pain, and only achieved after I spoke to Denon's (thankfully useful) helpline - where I was told things that were NOT in the supplied or downloaded instructions! But even so, the calibrated audio settings were awful - much manual fiddling about required. And the chosen audio setting often gets lost, even just changing a DVD can do it. As for the remote, quite the worst least intuitive and hardest to operate I've ever experienced. I'm not even convinced the sound quality is that impressive. No more Denon's for me

Upgrade
This was an upgrade from 10 year old Onkyo AV. Easy swt up instructions on screen if you are savy with Avr's

NOT sure
So far 3 days to set up and work. Not a novice at new tech or setting these things up> This has been a **g sound failing, control iffy, Took out a Sony 7.1 for this now hope It will continue working, found the pic on 4K very good, sound better than the Soney now it seems to be working (may need to update). Wife got the box ready for me to return. Seems the sound prob is known by others, see YT, would I recommend ? sound , yes, pic yes, setup and problems NO, unless you can deal with setup probs and only want to change leads over then look for something other. Will update If it all goes pear shaped again.
