Thoughtful design, highly functional
When I go for walks, it is often a chaotic event. I often hike on fairly crowded trails, so I have to have my dog leashed. For that, I used the Flexi retractable leash. For walks around the neighborhood, I'd just use a standard 4- or 6-foot lead. For walks with my infant son, I'd try to hold the 6-foot leash and steer the stroller. If my 40-lb herding dog saw a lizard dart under a shrub, he would lunge at it, and we would swerve (before the mama bears fire up the comment link: I held it loosely enough that it never pulled the stroller handle more than a couple inches before my hand came off the bar along with the leash). And sometimes I bike with my dog to help him get exercise, but I have to leave one hand off the handlebar to hold the leash, because I can't take the swerving risk at high speeds. This makes each of those tasks easier. The dog's end of the leash attaches to the collar's standard metal D-Ring the way most leashes do. It's a very secure sliding clasp that can't come loose. This is where I suspect negative reviews originate - people might be hooking the opposite end (with the carabiner) to the collar. The person-end of the leash has multiple options. You can wrap it around your waist and hook the carabiner to the leash, making it like a belt, with about four feet left over as a lead for your dog. This is great for two reasons - 1, your hands are free, which is great for hiking or pushing strollers. 2, the pull point is lower down on your body, making it much easier to resist the occasional enthusiastic lunge by your dog.You can also just hook the carabiner about 8-12 inches down from the end, making a short loop and creating a pretty standard-looking leash, at about 8 feet long. You also have the ability to wrap it around other things and latch it to itself - think park benches, outdoor cafe chair legs, bike seatposts. This gives you a full 8 feet, so your dog can get up and reposition himself while you help your toddler on the swing, for example. I used to do a similar thing with my standard 6-foot leash, but I had to take the leash off my dog, hold him with one hand, feed the end around the bench and back through the leash handle, and reconnect it. This is so much easier. And if you need to shorten it (which I've done a number of times at outdoor cafes to keep him from wandering over to other tables), it's easy to do just by unclipping the carabiner and moving it to another section along the leash.I honestly can't figure out how this could possibly be a safety concern, unless your dog is strong enough to break the carabiner. And if you're concerned about that, go to an outdoor equipment store and buy a climbing carabiner (like this one Omega Standard Oval Carabiner ) rated to hold a lot more weight. This was one of my best pet-related purchases.

Excellent quality
This product is very well made and it’s perfect for clipping on your belt to let little dogs walk trails with you. I wouldn’t suggest using it that way for large dogs especially on difficult trails because they can pull so hard. It would be perfect using it as a normal hand held leash for large dogs. This brand has nothing but quality made products. They may be slightly more expensive but their items will last much much longer.

OK, not great. Quality is questionable.
Our dog pulls like a mule. Trainer recommended a waist leash to be more hands free (less pulling back on my part) and so I'd have better control to plant myself and stop him. This one was pricier that the others she recommended but was easier to put on/take off and importantly wasn't bungee. Plus I trusted the Kurgo brand.And... it's okay. Not great. We've had it a few months and use it pretty regularly a handful of times a week for short walks. I'm 5'2 and a size 4, he gets about 3-4 feet of length on it by the time I wrap it around my waist. Which is plenty for our purposes but might not be enough if you're bigger depending on what you're doing (when my husband wears it the dog gets nearly no leash, and he not like linebacker-sized).It's kind of fussy with the clip to put on, I wish it was just a waist buckle I could leave set all the time. But it's nice to have the easy adjustability, I guess. My main gripe is the quality doesn't seem great. The clip to buckle it around my waist, the carabiner type part, has somehow turned itself inside out a few times, I'll be walking and the leash just falls off into my control hand as if it was never wrapped around me. Thank goodness dog has never bolted. I can probably replace it with a locking carabiner at some point, but I shouldn't have to.And the fabric is already fraying in a concerning number of places. I don't think the loops I use most often are going to hold much longer, which is going to be a pain; I'll either have to wear it too high or too low or find a reliable way to reattach them.We have other Kurgo stuff and it's durable as could be, I'm not sure what happened with this leash in particular, but reading reviews that seems to be a common gripe. So my take: it's great for light training in a controlled setting, or for a dog who is a reliable walker and doesn't bolt or pull too hard. It's fantastic for dogs who don't like feeling leash pressure (it's very light; our other leash is much heavier and I think our dog doesn't like that feeling). I wouldn't trust it to help with a very strong dog who's prone to taking off just because the clip is so unreliable. And I'm less than impressed with the general durability.

Good quality
Qualité équivalente à l'ancien modèle de laisse. Moins cher que sur le site de la marque.

Love the adjustability
We had the old-style model kurgo waist leash with our late small dog and I really wanted to try one with our large breed puppy/young-adult dog. So far, it's been great. The best part about this leash is the adjustability. You can use the carbiner to attach to one of many sections of the leash so you can wrap it around your waist or over the shoulder or just use as a handle. Because of all the attachment points, I can wrap it around my waist [and use it in conjuction with an extra little short-leash handle I attach via carbiner - different product- I think it's a Plutus 10inch - further down on the leash for some extra control of my squirrel-happy large-pup]. My only beef (and why it's not 5stars) is that the carabiner on this leash (the one I use mostly to attach around the waist) is smaller than the previous model. And it is a bit difficult (especially in running or winter gloves) to detach the carabiner easily when you're trying to take off the waist-leash for a moment when on an errand. etc. I preferred the larger carabiner of the earlier model. But I like the colour of this leash more for our pup. Still considering buying a second one!!!

Best leash. Period.
This leash is incredibly versatile and works very well in all aspects: Sling across your chest or around your waist, use by comfy handhold as a “normal” leash, adjust the length as needed with all the loops along the leash, quickly tie up your pup before going into a store… it’s got it all.Seems to be made of quite sturdy materials. I’ve tried other leashes, around the waist or bungee versions, and this is by far the best for comfort, convenience, and longevity.
