Excellent book
This is an excellent book for those seeking an understanding of how God organizes His kingdom and establishes spiritual authority. The syntax may be a bit challenging because Watchman Nee was writing over fifty years ago, but his wisdom and insight remain fresh.

Challenged what I Thought
Authority.... I used to view that word with a lot more suspicion than I do now. For myself, it used to be important for me to "respect" the person in authority over me. The idea of submitting myself to the authority of anything ran contrary to my independent streak. It had to be my idea. Anyone in authority over me had to "earn" my respect. This book completely challenged these notions I had. It showed me how I was wrong in my thinking and why. It even gave me biblical examples of how submission to authority is so important for anyone who professes belief in God. What I realized was the nature of my internal "rebelliousness" and how it affected everything all the relationships in my life from God to my work whether I was in authority or under authority. What is funny is that prior to reading this book, I never would have thought I had a spirit of rebelliousness within me. When I was first getting into the book, questions swam in my mind of how authority impacted my life and how authority or rebellion to authority had shaped our world. Armed with Nee's premise that all authority stems from God and is delegated to those in authority over us, freed me to move more freely in my relationships with others. It also freed me by showing me the difference between submitting authority as being institution or person specific and obeying authority being event specific. It even discussed how we should go about dealing with authorities in our lives when we have to disobey them while still submitting to their authority. Sound like a paradox? Read the book and you'll understand. If you read one book on your Christian faith and walking in discipleship, this one should be in your top ten of which to consider.

A convicting book!
This book has been a very challenging and convicting book for me to read. On almost every page, l felt the Holy Spirit picking my heart and showing me where l have missed God's will concerning how to be under authority and be in authority. I will be reading it again along with the audiobook so that l can make the truths contained therein are apart of who lam so that l may fulfill the calling that God has placed on my life.

"**Spiritual Authority**" by Watchman Nee is a significant work in Christian literature, emphasizing the concept of spiritual authority within the church and its essential role in the life of believers. Nee, a respected Chinese Christian leader, theologian, and teacher, is known for his deep insights into the Scriptures and his commitment to the spiritual life of the church. In this book, Nee uses Scripture extensively to define spiritual authority. He explores various biblical passages to illustrate how authority is not merely a matter of hierarchy or position, but a spiritual reality rooted in the nature and character of God Himself. Nee emphasizes that all authority originates from God and is established by Him (Romans 13:1). This foundational truth is pivotal in understanding the concept of spiritual authority in the church. One of the key themes in the book is the distinction between power and authority. Nee points out that while power can compel obedience, true spiritual authority is about a God-given ability to lead and guide people in the ways of the Lord. It's about a divinely ordained capacity to be a steward of God's purposes on earth. Nee delves into the importance of obedience to spiritual authority, seeing it as essential to the health and growth of the church. He uses the example of Moses and Aaron in the Old Testament and the apostles in the New Testament to illustrate how God establishes authority within His people. The book encourages believers to recognize and submit to this authority as a means of experiencing God's guidance and blessing. Moreover, Nee does not shy away from addressing the abuses of authority, pointing out that true spiritual authority is always characterized by the nature of Christ – service, humility, and love. He warns against authoritarianism and emphasizes that spiritual authority is meant for edification, not for personal gain or domination. In conclusion, "Spiritual Authority" by Watchman Nee is a profound and challenging exploration of a vital biblical principle. The book calls Christians to a deeper understanding and respect for the authority that God has established in the church. It's a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the biblical perspective on authority and its critical role in the life of the believer and the health of the church. This book is not just theoretical; it's a practical guide for living out the Christian faith in submission to God's divine order.
