I ordered this carb and initially, the delivery guy drove off with my package (caught on camera), yet marked it as “Delivered”. I contacted the company and they refunded me right away. I ordered a replacement carb and it shipped quickly, and this time my package arrived as expected and was actually delivered. Plus one for customer service. As for the carb itself, initially I was expecting a light weight, “cheap quality” unit. Understanding you typically get what you pay for. My wife’s car is only driven a few times a year and has a Ton of miles, so we were willing to give it a shot for the price. To our pleasant surprise, this carb is quite solid/heavy and seems pretty well put together! I did remove a few screws/components and add a dab of blue locktite to them, just because I’m a little cautious I guess, not because they were loose or anything. Carb comes with an extra idle and main jet, which is nice when trying to dial things in. Verified all mechanical aspects were dialed in on the vehicle: Valve adjustment, points, timing, no vacuum leaks, etc., etc. I then installed the new carb and cranked it over. Once fuel hit the bowl, the engine fired right up and it was instantly noticeable how much smoother it was idling in comparison to the old tired (worn shafted) PICT 34, and i hadn’t yet made any adjustments to the new carb. I left it on high idle, warmed up til the choke opened, and then performed base idle and air fuel adjustments. No fuel or air leaks, no loose components, nothing negative to report at this time. We’ll see how gaskets/seals/bushings hold up over time, but my initial impression, I’m really happy and surprised at the seemingly quality carb for such an inexpensive price. We’ve ordered a second for my dads bus.

The automatic choke in my old carb conked out on me. I was going to replace it when I found this. "Why spend $30 on a choke when I can get a new carb for $25 more?" I had already replaced my old generator with an alternator. I had to modify the old carb to make it fit (you can also get a riser that will position it to fit). This carb installed right beside the alternator with no modification and no adapter. I started the car and she purred like a kitten, without me having to even adjust the settings! (This is no guarantee that *you* won't have to adjust yours.) Runs like a dream. My only complaints are that it didn't come with a new barrel nut and that the accompanying nuts were 12mm, forcing me to re-use my old ones, since the only wrench I have that will reach the front nut is a 13mm. Still, for the price, I can't complain too much. Assuming this carburetor continues to function long-term (and I couldn't spot any problems with the build that would suggest it can't), I may never go through the hassle of rebuilding a carburetor again. Here's hoping maXpeedingrods is selling these for decades to come. Great product, awesome price.

Carburetor appears to be well made; my Beetle started right up, but I did have to adjust the idle speed down and the fuel/mixture which is not uncommon. Carb comes with a second set of jets, but no info as to what size they are.

With a lot of manufactured items in the aftermarket world,the part(s) usually need a final cleaning before installation. I could not find anything to clean out on this carb! After checking all points on this carb, my opinion, well put together, I don't promote anything going on an engine without an inspection. This carb could have bolted on and ran RIGHT OUTTA THE BOX! Without any adjustments to the carb, it fired right up! And sounded great too!!, this was set up with a generator (no clearance issue) then with an alternator (slight mod to accelerator pump arm for clearance).

I had reservations about buying a cheap carb for my vintage bug but chose a leap of faith and give it a try. I am pleasantly surprised, this thing is awesome! I figured if it didn't work I could use parts to rebuild my Solex pict34 but it works great-- I bolted it on and made NO adjustments. I had no idea how bad my old carb was, this idles smoothly and has power I didn't have before. I've only put a few miles on it but will update this review after I've driven it more. UPDATE 10/10/2023: After a year and more than a city/highway thousand miles, this budget hunk of pot metal is still running great with no problems and no adjustments! I average around 25-26 mpg in mostly city driving. I am impressed and still very happy with this carb.

Everything came as advertised. It is not a genuine SOLEX carb but what appears to be a good reproduction. It works as designed, came well packaged with studs, nuts, and a gasket. My single issue which is why I reduced this to a 3 star is due to an assembly mistake. The float needle and float was installed wrong and caused the needle to bind. This prevented fuel delivery and caused me to spend some time diagnosing it on a brand new item. Once I fixed the float needle clearance there was no further issues. Air cutoff works, choke works, and all adjustments just fine. In all honestly my case was probably a rare one but still my personal experience with it. Did not need to contact seller for issue as I was able to fix easily.

I was afraid to buy a low priced carbeurator for my 1971 Karmann Ghia , due to my old one not idleing properly. But seeing a few companys selling all price range of aftermarket carbs and reading good reviews about this companys product , Max Speed, I threw caution to the wind and ordered it. It came a couple of days later, very fast! It had a faint smell of gasoline which I liked, because it showed they tested it. It had 2 extra jets , I didnt use them. I screwed the carb studs on with blue locktite ,and after removing my old carb installed the MaxSpeed. 4 or 5 seconds of engine cranking is all it took. It fired up , the choke worked perfectly , I didnt even have to prime or touch the throttle at all. The car is street legal so I drove around the neighborhood for 10 minutes. It did not stall at the stop signs like the old used carb I had. Im ordering a spare to have for any future projects.

Snelle levering en ik was enigzins verrast over deze carburteur. Met een 10 minuten zat hij gemonteerd en het was starten en lopen. Ik heb er helemaal niets aan hoeven afstellen. Loopt netjes stationair, slaat niet af en er zitten geen dooie punten meer in als ik gas geeft. Prima ding voor dat geld!
