I am so impressed with ORIJEN Amazing Grains High Protein Dry Dog Food. After switching my dog to this formula, I noticed a huge difference in his overall health. (review for Orijen amazing grain large puppy version) This food is the best affordable option I've found, so far, for my puppy. It has a high ratio of animal products and protein which is important for a puppy's development. Some of the alternatives have lentils, peas and potatoes that some studies now suggest *may cause heart problems in some dogs by interfering with taurine absorption (which is one reason I recommend this over the grain free version). Two different vets also recommended avoiding the grain free dog foods. So far my puppy seems extremely happy, healthy and energetic, after several months of eating this food. She has grown significantly more than most dogs in her breed while still having a lean athletic build. Only problem is it's extremely difficult to tire her out!

I switched my 9 year old Lab to this about a year ago. Her other kibble kept changing their formulation and the quality of ingredients had changed as well. My pup doesn't need as much of this kibble to fill her up (relatively speaking bc she's a Lab ha ha). She seems to enjoy the texture, size, and shape of the kibble. The kibble quality is consistent and there's no offensive odor when I open the bag and dump it in the kibble container. My other Lab is allergic to chicken and he wants this so badly so it must smell good.
