I just received four sets of these plates today, so this is a preliminary report. Should my opinion change, I'll update. APPEARANCE: The fluted edges give them a rather elegant look. They would do nicely for a wedding or fancy party. They are translucent, you will see the shade of your had behind it if held up to the light, but not to the point that you could see other than a shadow. STRENGTH: They are not at all bendable: I put a 2 1/4 lb item on a large plate and held it by one edge; it did not bend at all. Impressive. DELIVERED AS PROMISED?: I received the plates on the day promised. I counted the plates and all 96 were there . I checked the surface of each and found no marks of any kind. UPSHOT: I am quite pleased with this purchase and believe the 5 stars are well deserved. UPDATE: I still like these plates but have to change this to 4 stars from 5. They are described as scratch resistant but I found many of the plates were scratched. Someone brought a ham to this potluck and I assume those slices were what invited the scratches. My guests were using regular flatware but some of the knives had cerated edges; not like a streak knife, but....So I wasn't happy about that. THE GOOD: I tried one in the microwave on high and it caused no damage. Also, they washed beautifully in the dishwasher. So, over all, I would buy them again.
