Through this book I got to know what was to me the history of the five continents and the seas. Of course in elementary school everybody has been taught about the formation of mountains and Pangea, and volcanos, but here in this book it was something like watching the Earth through the Borges' Aleph, a small sphere showing you all the time and all the space everything at once in your palm. I even got the reason to exist of my birthplace. The kindle formatting is excellent! square books usually are badly formatted but this is an exception and an example of how to read this editions. I found it more comfortable to read in the kindle app for the computer. The selection of photos for the most part is in good taste: they are well composed and look natural, very few overdone HDRs, most of the photos show what eyes will see. The diagrams are didactic and spectacular. This book is a winner that should be in any library of the world, I will get a physical copy. Review: a work of art - Amazing photography and compelling geographical information. The world we enjoy today has taken millions of years to form and continues to change every minute of every day. We are but a snapshot in time as our planet continues to evolve. Truly awe inspiring

Delightful
If you are lover of the nature like me, you will enjoy this book. The original price of the book was $50 but Kindle edition is just over $11 and can be read on Kindle APP on the PC with beautiful Pictures worth looking at on a big screen. You can Zoom in as well. The description is brief. The book is over 400 pages of great pictures. Good for kids and adults. I liked it so much that I ordered a hard copy from Used books for just over $8 + shipping (still cheaper than the brand new price of $27 on Amazon.

Beautiful Book
I'm not a geology expert at all, so from a layman's point of view, I feel that the explanation about the various phenomenon that created these natural wonders is explained with enough detail to keep the reader interested and not make him/her feel overwhelmed with excess information. To me, that's important as a reader. The Information presented in the book is awe-inspiring. Add to it a bit of your own google search and you could enjoy the book even more. Being a designer, I am picky about information hierarchy and good presentation of it. And this book is laid out and designed beautifully (thumbs up to the designers). The pages don't feel too heavy on text, and the information is organized clearly. That's how books should be. If you are attracted by the way information is presented, you are most likely to read it, learn from it, and above all have an enjoyable experience.

Truly a book of wonder
Love this book. Definitely a must buy. It has beautiful photography. It also has deep scientific explanation-for example- ever wonder why the earth has earthquakes or how the mountains are formed? Well your in luck And that's just the first chapter! Even the hard cover has gorgeously vivid colors! It pretty much shows you the world, it's plants, animals and national natural landmarks. End.

Dorling Kindersley books are all about photographs and this one certainly doesn't disappoint. This picture book takes a tour round a selection of the world's amazing natural sights, and combines it with a little geology and natural history. Many of the shots show familiar places from new and unusual angles, and composition, lighting and technical quality are superb. There are perhaps just two or three shots that ought not to have passed the quality threshold, plus some really superb ones are frustratingly reproduced too small to be appreciated properly, but these are small criticisms. Top marks to all the individual photographers and the picture editors. The text is also typical of DK. With limited space available for words, you will be disappointed if you want some in depth reading. But treating the text as extended captions, there is some good information to support the images - mostly concerning geological details about how the landscapes were created, but also some geography, natural history and weather. A great book to be dipped into at leisure, to wonder at the world through beautiful photographs, with fascinating facts thrown in as a bonus.
