I love it, works as intended
I wanted to scan in all of my mothers photos she had in a paper file & then put them into a photo album so I bought this. It's really nice to have & I've used it a few more times after the initial intended use. It works great, easy & straightforward to use. You can do 4 photos at once which is good for saving time, but any more than that it doesn't detect. Make sure you space them out a little bit so it will detect them all as seperate pictures. The software is easy to download & use, you can crop the photos & tilt them if they scan in slightly off. The photos were all scanned in accurately & good quality. It is a bit slower at scanning but it didn't bother me at all.

LOL It works great!!
Checked out the other reviews when purchasing this. Don't know WHAT they are doing or talking about. Very easy to install. ALL DRIVERS DOWN LOAD FROM EPSON. I can put my iMac, desk top, to sleep and scanner stays on. Went off once and when I woke iMak up it turned back on. No unplugging , reloading or what ever, just turned back on! Doesn't make any more noise then my older scanner, No problem. Scans quickly, not MINUTES like reviews stated? Photo quality is fine as well as printed statements. Just got it up n running so will give an update in the future. Don't know what the other reviewers where talking about. Great little unit, not as bulky as my other Epson scanner was. As a former professional photographer, I have always found Epson to be my choice. Oh yes, price was right!

A sleek, high-resolution scanner that is simply useless at what it's supposed to do
The scanner is slim, light; the included stand is a genius space-saver; the colors and scan resolution are great. So why the 1 star? There are 7 evenly-spaced missing "bars" of pixels on every scan. (on my second photo I only show 5 of them, because that was not full page) These are not just one missing pixel column either. In my first attached photo, that sample was scanned at 1200dpi (1/4 the scanner's max resolution) and there are already 4 columns of pixels missing from each instance. At full resolution, I missed a whopping 16 pixels. This is totally noticeable on magazine scans, where it intefered with the halftone pattern. On photo scans, it cuts through people's faces - especially on group photos - and cause them to lose eyes and noses. These are not from the gear slipping (because they are vertical, perpendicular to the sensor bar). These are not one-off defect either, because I ordered a replacement (Amazon is awesome) and both scanners have the exact same missing columns. Not sure why something like this was "designed" in. Another, initially thought to be minor, but turned out quite a bit of an annoyance, is the fact that the anchor corner on the scanner glass is not true corner. If you put your document flush against the edges of the glass (like anyone who wants their scan to be well-aligned would do), you would miss about 1.5mm of content. That's a lot of content in a 4"x6" photo. This is the first scanner I have used that did not scan the edges of documents flushed against the edges of the glass. The result? You'll have to position your photo at some distance from the edges of the scanning glass edges, and will almost certainly have to straigthen the resulting scanned images later (because unless you have superman vision, there's no way you can perfectly put your photo perpendicular to the edges without touching them). With those 2 flaws, this is only good for scanning documents. If I just needed a document scanner, then there's no reason to buy this one. Most all-in-ones at half this price can scan at 600dpi fast, which is more than good enough for documents. This V19, however, is clealy targeted toward people scanning photos and magazines, whom their all-in-ones cannot match. With the missing pixels, the 4800dpi resolution is totally unusable.

Excellent and affordable flatbed scanner for small batches of photos and documents
I’m very happy with this flatbed scanner. Epson’s website provides installation packets online - just select your operating system version from their dropdown menu. The installation of the the Epson software, drivers and documentation to my iMac went flawlessly. I scanned about 50 photos, several small paintings and a few paper documents and the resulting images, PDFs, etc. looked identical to the originals. I was able to scan 3-4 photo prints at a time (e.g., 5x3.5in) and the software automatically created separate files for each photo. After each scan, you are able to optionally rotate each image, edit the file defaults (format/name/location), and save/print/send it. The process is easy, flexible and logical. There are also buttons to turn on/off color and/or contrast enhancements and these are sometimes helpful, although I preferred to use Lightroom in post for more comprehensive photo restorations. If you need to do occasional small-batch scanning, this affordable flatbed scanner is an excellent choice.

Works great and is exactly what I needed
Lightweight and looks great on my desk. It scans pictures wonderfully and quickly. Very easy to use with one button scanning which is a real time saver. And being powered by only a usb port is a huge plus for portability with a laptop for scanning on the road.

Works well with small items.
I just scanned in over 3000 pictures of varying sizes, some of which were between 1 and 3 inches square or rectangle. I could easily fit several on the scanning surface and each picture came out just as clear as if I had scanned each individually. I don't like that sometimes the scanner software wanted to 'auto crop" but it was easily corrected with a click of the mouse. The physical size of the scanner is just right for me (I don't have large items to scan) and it is fairly light. The only thing I don't like it that it is always on when plugged in - there is no on/off switch. Also, if the computer goes to sleep while the scanner is plugged in, the scanner doesn't work. You have to unplug the scanner and restart your computer. Just plugging the scanner back in didn't work, at least for me. I used an iMac for my scanning, so this problem might not exist for a PC.

I’ve been using this little Epson gem for several months, and it’s basically my personal magic wand for anything paper-related. Old photos? Crisp scans that make me question why I ever kept them in dusty albums. Documents? Clear, sharp, and ready to send without a single smudge or crease. It’s compact, USB-powered (so no extra wall adapters cluttering my desk), and even the removable high-rise lid makes scanning awkwardly thick things surprisingly easy. The 4800 dpi resolution means I can zoom in on details I didn’t even know existed — like spotting my cousin’s questionable 80s haircut in a family photo. For anyone who needs a scanner that’s reliable, detailed, and just a little fun to use, this one’s a winner. It’s like turning your messy paper life into perfectly organized digital nirvana — and yes, I may have done a little happy dance after my first successful batch of scans.
