Product Awesome...Lid Not so much
This product works as advertised and has been EXTREMELY effective in keeping our water clear. Complaints about the lid on the container are real. It is extremely difficult to open and I don't see any reason for such a complex lid design...the company must have gotten sold on this design from a family member or someone they owed a favor because no sane person would think its easy to open or use. But it's worth the headache for how the treatment works!!

Yup, finally got a bad lid too, but I solved it without destroying the container!
TL;Dr for lid problems: Smash the side of the lid with a hammer all the way around to loosen it.The product is a good value, the first one I bought I definitely struggled with the lid but mainly because I couldn't reasonably get the red tab high enough. The second one I was more prepared but despite knowing exactly what to do the lid wouldn't budge. For anyone who says they never had a problem with the lid: you got lucky however many times in a row. The red tab was out of the way but the lid does not budge whatsoever. And I'm the person my partner goes to for opening difficult things.I tried a bunch of stuff without outright destroying the container but what eventually worked was blunt force trauma all the way around the lid. I originally had a wrench to clamp open the red tab, so I took it and smacked the side of the lid all the way around in frustration. After one more good tug, it finally gave. Just in time to do my weekly chemicals tomorrow!

a must for pool caretakers
non chlorinated shock works much better than chlorine bomb shock, does not smell and achieves the same effect. 1 cup for 10,000 gal is more than sufficient once per week and I don't have to deal with the liquid chlorine. does not irritate the skin like heavy chlorination does.

Works as suppose to. Easy to open the lid.. Read more how I take care of my water
The media could not be loaded. Not sure why everyone is complaining about the lid. Just follow simple directions? I lifted the red pin and twisted off (counterclockwise) with ease. Closed it and did it again 2nd time for the video demonstration.. if you indeed have trouble, dont use crazy tools, just hole saw a hole on top or use box cutter knife and cut a triangle and dump it into a ziplock bag. What's the deal, I was gonna do that after reading all the reviews but it opened without hassle for me. Purchased in Dec. 2024Will update in case doesn't keep the water clear, but I already have pretty clean water. Just little bit of chlorine and oxidizer or this stuff before or after each use.I usually add my stuff before going in, turn jets on to high to circulate for 15-20mins (sometimes 30mins) before entering, with lid open. So that After we're done, I don't have to wait with lid open and come out to it again. Just close the lid and go to sleep and till text time - repeat.Had my tub fot 3 months now, use it 3-6 times a week, water is clear and clean. Usually gets a little musty smell (like just a little) if not used for a few days (due to sitting and boiling under cover this whole time, without fresh air), but it gets taken care of before we enter every time.I usually just cover the bottom of the cap and eyeball it. Since I add it so often, I don't use suggested amount but way less... if I had to guess, it would be half-to-one ounce of product. If I do that couple times a week, that is more than suggested per week, but definitely not per each time I enter the hot tub. I have 8 person 550gallon hot tub, for reference. Please thumbs up my review if it helps!

Extremely dangerous
No one, but no one, should buy this product in this packaging. In theory, you use some sort of tool to lift the "catch" out of bucket top from the lid and then unscrew the top. In reality, the top is screwed on so tight, there is no way to make this a one-person job. You need one hand to hold the bottom, another to torque the top, and then a third to hold the "catch" up, and that's if you have enough strength to actually loosen the top when the "catch" is in release position. No one I know has three hands, so it turns into a two person job, IF you have a second person. As anyone who has ever tried a two-person job that involves any amount of force/torque, you don't want either person holding a tool like a screwdriver. Just a bad, bad design that just doesn't work and is bound to draw blood, if not poke an eye out. I ended up using a utility knife to cut a big hole in the top close to the edge, then cut the top edge through the lip of the bucket and poured the contents into my old 6 lb container that opens and closes with a simple twist.
