I love how this makes my bass sound
It's cheap, and that's painfully apparent in the plastic casing. However, this thing has incredible, let me repeat, INCREDIBLE TONE. I'm going to get this thing rehoused with a true bypass switch as soon as possible. I love how this makes my bass sound, and want to preserve it for as long as possible. Buy it just for the pcb and get it rehoused. Well worth it.

Perfect amout of boost
Great pedal for the money. Awesome tone an just right amount of punch.

Not Bad
I've been using this pedal for live gigging for a couple of tours. It has held up well with travel, and has a decent drive sound. While not maybe the most flexible pedal there is, it does it's job well enough for any bassist looking to get into using drive.

Es espectacular. No importa que el precio sea bajo y q tenga partes en plástico. El sonido que esté pedaleando me da es brutal, es muy bacano.

Good for Behringer
I bought this because I like to use my other bass overdrive pedal (deluxe bass big muff pi) on the output of my analog synth or in my effects chain on my mixing board because it has a -10db pad. So I figured if it works good use if not oh well. It's only $25 through amazon. Pros: Yes, it actually makes some good sounds. The bass and treble boost add some good tone variations.. Works good on guitar and you can add some real low end to it with this. Price Cons: Not a true bypass (but it doesn't seem to affect clean sound when off). Plastic casing Makes poor quality pickups sound way worse. Overall lesson here is that it is worth the price and surprisingly has a treble and bass boost but don't expect the level sound and tone control you get with a more expensive pedal like my big muff pi. If you have poor quality stock pickups it will make you understand why you need to change them. The moment you turn up any of your tone levels it immediately puts a hissing sound in the output. But that is the nature of cheaper solid state based gain. Good pedals help eliminate that kind of noise with filters. The good news is that you can adjust your overdrive enough to where you don't hear the hissing. If you want less overdrive you may have to turn down your tone knobs on your guitar if you have poor noisy pickups. Or else you will likely get hissing. I would wager that this is why people complain of the pedal making their sound "Tinny". The hissing is higher frequency so it would logically contribute to any high end noise that would make things sound "tinny". It's cheap but good but don't expect perfection. It's got enough to play around with to give a wide range of tonal possibilities but lacks the more robust controls of something $100 more expensive. I can appreciate it for what it does at the cost but also make me appreciate my expensive pedal even more. In electronics you get what you pay for but sometimes you find something that goes a bit beyond its price and this is it. 4 stars only because of the casing and it's purple. P.S. Make sure you use this on an effects loop capable amp. Or else it really doesn't help much. It's a lot like the Boss Metal Zone pedal.

Absolutely Impressive Overdrive Pedal. Best ever!
I have used many overdrive or preamp/overdrive pedals and this is the only one that once I pressed it on I didn't go "oh man there goes my mids" and have to redial in my amp. Also this is the first pedal that I've run with the blend at maximum. With every other pedal I've used the blend is usually around 50-60%, but the sound from this pedal is incredible!!! It takes my bass and adds punch with a hint of grit or a huge amount depending on the pedal settings. Not distortion, but sweet sweet tubey overdrive. I run my P-bass into the BOD400, then into an SVT3PRO and through an Ampeg BXT410 cabinet. It's just glorious! Woody and warm with slight tube compression. I don't like fuzz and never use my "drive" pedals for more than a hint of grit, and this delivers in spades! Given my OD level is at the minimum, so you won't get a clean tone out of this pedal, but at a min it adds the perfect amount of "dirt". If I dial it up a bit more it turns into an overdriven monster without the fizz. Other pedals I've used erase the personality of the bass, and sends out a tone that has no unique character. I own 6 basses and this pedal just amplifies each basses "character" not erases it. For the price you can't beat it. Yeah it's made of plastic, but I leave it on all the time and do not stomp the cr@p out of it. If you pay a bit of attention I see no reason why this won't last as long as any of the metal enclosed pedals. Can't say enough good things about this pedal.

Gave me exactly what I wanted and economically.
Great control from 0 to very fuzzed out. I'm using it to make my very clean Markbass amp sound like it's straining a little. I'm playing with a passive bass guitar signal and plugging the overdrive into the amps built in effects loop and couldn't be more pleased with the tonal variation and control. Some of the complaints are likely from people who don't (literally) understand the in's and out's of their equipment. It would be nice if it had an on/off switch on the pedal rather than having to unplug the input to de-energize the unit. Regardless, I think I just saved myself at least $100 if not $200.

Maybe I got a DUD. I bought 4 other pedals from different vendors and they all lit up and were ready to go. This would not even make a static noise. Youtbed nd reread the manual and it's going back today.

I bought this pedal because my 6+ year old BOD100 kinda broke (just the plastic casing). I have fixed it with glue, and it holds up, but it has highlighted that nothing lasts forever. But the BOD100 is still on my pedal board and is now used as a booster. The BOD400 has taken over as my main overdrive pedal, and is mostly the same (bar the name). I did notice a slight tone difference, maybe a tad more aggressive, so I adjusted it to get back the tone I had before. No trouble. I can tell you that with this cheap overdrive, I have had many compliments on my saturated sound, being on stage or recorded. A friend of mine has a recording studio, and when I sent him some recordings, he asked me what my saturation was, as he really liked the tone. Not bad for a pedal less than £20... One niggle (which doesn't concern me really) is the opening of the battery casing which is a bit awkward. I do not care as it is plugged in my generator, but people using batteries might find it not great. I thought I'd mention it. Now, addressing the bad reviews saying that it is crap, cheaply made of plastic etc... Yes it is made of plastic. I am careful with my stuff and don't jump on my pedal board while playing. My BOD100 lasted (and still lasts after the aforementioned supergluing) many years, and have never had an issue.

Sweet fuzzy eargasm. Remember to disconnect your cables from it, if using with a battery. Worth the money. As a stomp box, quality might be finicky, have to go easy on it coz its made of plastic, and has a simple spring loaded button inside.
