Be sure to check this other issue first!
Took a chance on this given the terrible reviews. My 230V Husky 5HP compressor quit and I went through the process of testing the capacitors and the motor, and I replaceed the start capacitor but she still wouldn't fire? Motor tested fine? No shorts? So this new motor was cheap enough I just took a chance. But when I installed it it also wouldn't run? Turns out the pressure control switch connection was bad. This has points on it like an old GM. Now I have a spare motor as my original, as suspected was fine. Be sure to test the pressure switch. Mine was delivering 230V but one of the contacts had fused itself and caused a no start condition. Either that or it wasn't delivering the amperage required but still delivered 120V on each leg... Then new motor was well packaged and works fine, but as others have observed, only time will tell. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008JVM43I?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Potential Buyers Need to Understand This Motor's Claimed HP Rating
Motor is pretty much dead at just over a year of intermittant use. It'll kick on and run but amps shoot through the roof when the compressor gets up to 50 psi. Compressor pump spins freely. Looks like a capacitor or winding failure. Motor has under 100 hours on it. Potential buyers need to understand that the "SPL" denotes a PEAK power, NOT a continuous power rating. This motor is probably more truthfully a 3.5 HP motor. In my case, I have a high cfm air compressor pump. It's a Quincy CTS-5. At the rated RPM it is up around 27CFM at 125 PSI. For about ten hours of use, this motor seemed to work ok. I had a leaky tank issue and a problem that appeared to be a slipping belt that led to me getting another tank and reconfiguring my setup. In doing so, I realized that my drive pulley on the motor was too small. When I got the motor and pump set on the tank, I decided to up the pulley to get more cfm from the pump. This motor does not have the grunt to push the pump at rated speed and pressure. I found that I can put a smaller pulley on and run it up to 100 psi tank pressure without the thermal overload tripping. The downside is that I won't get the full rated CFM. The upside is that I will still be able to use the compressor to run impacts, grinders and my plasma cutter. I'll squeeze evertything I can out of this one before getting something bigger. I will not be buying this motor again for my application. I do wish that the description would not have tossed the "5HP" out there -- it is NOT true. Doing so is like saying a stock Chevy 350 is rated for 12,000 rpm; it might do 12k rpm, but only once and with seriously detrimental side effects.

Great replacement motor for the price
my motor croked on my standup compressor. changed out the pressure switch. that was bad but the motor bad as well. This motor was an easy install, 45 minutes maybe and boom it runs like a champ. Cant beat it for $159.

VERY HAPPY!
GREAT LITTLE MOTOR. THE PRICE WAS GOOD. I USE THIS ON A COMPRESSOR JUST ABOUT EVERY WEEKEND. SEEMS TO BE HOLDING UP WELL SO FAR.
