CamelBak Adult ThermoBak AB Mil Spec Antidote Short Hydration Backpack

I am entering the Army OCS program and was required to have a Camelbak. I am just over 6' tall and have relatively broad shoulders. This hydration pack is simple and efficient, perfect for your everyday needs. The straps do sit wide on your shoulders, but this seems to help me when I am wearing a vest and harness. The material is Corduro and appears to be very resilient. There is no padding on the straps and also does not have large pockets, so if you are looking for a pack that is load bearing then you should look at other models. Otherwise, the lack of padding doesn't bother me, but you should take personal body type and preference into account. This pack fits 670-1 requirements and matches the Army ACU patterns. The Antidote short is perfect for me, sitting higher on my back between my shoulders. When I run the pack stays in place better than longer reservoirs and doesn't flop around. Also, when we are getting smoked it doesn't sit in my lower back, which can become really annoying, particularly when cadre are having us do flutter kicks. This pack also has the added bonus of being attachable to plate carriers and your vest. That is a really awesome ability. Remember, this is a bare bones piece of equipment and you should take your needs into account. I highly recommend it for someone looking for quality, reliability and basic function.

Superb product from CamelBak Maximum Gear Line (Military Line). The Thermobak utilizes the short 100 oz reservoir which I prefer bc I wanted to ensure the fill port would be the large mouth and not the small mouth that may come with the longer/skinny reservoir. Having the large mouth fill port makes for easy filling which is one less thing to worry about throughout your day in the field. Also this model boasts the ability to fill the reservoir without having to remove it from the pack and this is true and is definitely a plus! The pack can be removed though for cleaning. The pack may be worn as is on the body or even over another backpack that you maybe wearing due to the generous adjustment the shoulder straps have. Additionally, the pack comes with 4 total (2 on top, 2 on bottom) fastek clips that can be attached to body armor or another pack you are wearing which makes this pack highly adaptable to meet your needs. When the fastek clips are not being used they can be tucked into the pockets on the pack. Highly recommended!

Finally got around to using this a few times for biking and hiking, and loved it. Seems very durable, the padding on the tubing is a nice touch to keep the water from getting warm, and so far little or no taste detectable in the water. A great product and so glad I bought it!
