White cast!
Not my favourite consistency, thick, sticky, and leaves a lot of white cast

Bought this for a trip to Maui. I generally like Baby bum products, particularly mineral based sunscreens. There is a slight white cast, but not so terrible on my skin shade (I am asian) but might be different for someone darker skinned. I found the cast pretty mild and was able to rub it in to the point it was not noticealbe pretty quick.

This is the best mineral sunscreen I’ve found. It does not sweat off or pill up when I spread it. It will leave a slight white film on your skin but a) that’s what mineral sunscreen does and b) it’s nowhere near as obvious as others I’ve tried. It’s a tolerable annoyance given that this doesn’t introduce nasty chemicals while still ensuring I’m not getting sun damage. The reason I initially bought this product (and a handful of similar items) was because I noticed my bathing suits and coverups were turning orange when I washed them after using non-mineral sunscreens while at the beach. I was getting really frustrated because it was costing me a lot of money to replace those suits and did some research to find out that it was actually the non-mineral sunscreen‘s reaction with the hard water at our vacation condo. Using this mineral sunscreen totally solves that problem. No more orange discoloration! Disclaimer: I have never tried to use this on a baby, just on adult self.

This is the only product that hasn’t made my 13 month old break out. She has sensitive skin and this has been great. I was slightly bummed that it didn’t have the classic “sunburn smell”, but then realized it was probably better for her and go over it lol. Overall a great product.

Baby Bum SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray is a fine sunscreen but not one of my favorites. It leaves more of a white-cast than most of the other mineral/physical sunscreens that I’ve used. It doesn’t feel too heavy though so that’s nice. Although it spreads well, it doesn’t rub in well and leaves me with streaky white spots. I do love that it comes in a fragrance-free version because scents are a huge dealbreaker for me. At 3.4% Titanium Dioxide and 15.7% Zinc Oxide, it provides adequate UVB protection but potentially questionable UVA protection. Some people say it’s not about the percent of UV actives and instead claim that it’s just about the formulation, but there doesn’t appear to be a strong conclusion either way. I do feel the need to clarify that just because this product is in a spray-form, that doesn’t mean you just spray it on and go. In the chemical sunscreen world, yes, you could probably get away with just spraying and not rubbing it in. But in the mineral/physical sunscreen world, you’re going to have to have rub it in to properly protect your skin. The formula in this spray bottle is the same as the formula used in their roll-on bottle, so if the spray mechanism upsets you, perhaps consider the roll-on one. You still have to rub it in but it may feel more intuitive to roll it on and rub it in, than to spray and rub.

Huge beach bum fan! I love this spray that I can easily put on my toddler or even myself before sun time ! Works great under makeup with no oily feeling, does need to be rubbed in rather well
