This coffee is good. Smells like crushed oreo cookies.
This coffee smells like crushed oreo cookies. The chocolate notes are present but not as strong in the coffee. I put mine in a container with some silica gel packets to keep it moisture-free once opened, and it has stayed fresh for far longer than most coffees I've tried both by this brand and other southeast Asian coffee producers. It is oily and will leave a thick film of oil on anything you use to brew it. I personally use it in my 3 cup moka pot per the directions given by James Hoffman, and it works beautifully, giving a very potent and rich concentrate to make lattes and iced coffees with. Will be getting this from now on. If you like Trung Nguyen Creative 4, this is a great option to switch to when you can't source Creative 4 and is definitely an upgrade.

Big fan!
I first tried this in September and now into October, I can confidently give a review. I noticed each time I open the package, there is a strong, pleasant tone of chocolate that transfers to the flavor more subtly. I didn't actually read the description when I purchased this, so I checked it here today because I wanted confirmation and looks my senses were right! I usually brew this coffee with my Vietnamese tea set - and it's delicious. I think this will do well in a press and manual drip. I have used this in my coffee maker and it's still good. The beans used are oily, which is expected for a dark roast - which leaves a great bold flavor. I like strong coffees. This goes well with regular cream/milk. I don't use flavored creamers; I'm not a fan. And ever since I used sweet condensed milk to make the ice coffee version, I started using it for hot coffee as well (never mind the sugar in condensed milk :D). It's my primary dairy in coffee now. This brand really keeps its strength and boldness even with dairy added which is a huge plus, and is also delicious black.

The real thing but needs to be protected for shipping.
This smells amazing, like I'm back in Vietnam. I recommend buying this! But the packaging could not protect the product. Our sealed bags of ground coffee were packed in a bubble envelope. When we received it, it had been crushed and the bags burst. Coffee filled the bubble package, not the original packages. When I picked up my delivery, I could smell the coffee and I knew the bags were compromised. Because it is perishable, it is not returnable/ refundable. I ordered it again and paid shipping again. I'm hoping I could possibly get refunded for the original purchase. I look forward to enjoying this beautiful coffee when the new shipment arrives.

Good quality coffee but not sure it is safe
For making Vietnamese coffee, the taste is not right. To get the same taste as those in Vietnamese Restaurant, use the Gourmet one. In terms of coffee, the flavor is rich and strong. It is good. However, I recently learned about Agent Orange when I gave this as a gift to a friend. I googled the information, and learnt that the population there still have a very low % of that agent in their blood after all these years. I got concerned eventhough coffee in Vietnam is grown in the highlands where there's limited exposure to Agent Orange. Unless I know exactly where this coffee is grown in Vietnam, I would not take any chances with this coffee. It better safe than sorry. It is really unfortunate cause I love Vietnamese Coffee.

Delicious
This is the fourth bled of Trung Nguyen coffee I have tried and it's the second best, only slightly behind #4. This is a very rich coffee with a lot of depth from the dark roast. Chocolaty, buttery and amazingly smooth with only the barest hint of acidity. You can use an obscene amount of grounds and the pot will still be smooth. There aren't any bitter notes at any strength. It's a coarser grind than I make when using whole beans so it takes more coffee to make a pot than with finer ground coffee. I generally roast and grind my own coffee from green coffee beans but this kind of flavor is impossible for me to make at home from fresh beans. My daughter likes this better than any other blend. Buon Me Thuot Special is one that I plan to keep in my rotation along with #4.

crazy good
This high octane brew was dark and rich. It has a maltiness that seems like an added flavor. I liked using it at full strength in a drip coffee maker or in a french press. It can be silty in a press, and a tall filter is recommended for use in a drip coffee maker to prevent overflow. The water seemed to move slower through the finely ground coffee. This was a real taste treat. It is as familiar as your favorite cup of dark roast, but different enough from other coffees to be novel and special. Eat well!

Super Coffee
Smooth, delicious, chocolatey and Robusta. Need more be said? If you haven't tried Vietnamese coffee from a Phin filter you're missing something special. This coffee is ground and the price for the 500 gram bag is a super value. Outstanding!!

Excellent Coffee
I have been drinking Vietnamese coffee for about 2 years and this is probably my favorite brand/flavor. If you like a robust flavored coffee then this is a must for you. While I do experiment with other Vietnamese coffee brands, I always come back to this one. Try it - you won't be disappointed.
